"Goodbye... I'll miss you, Catnip." my human said, tears covering her face.

I wanted to comfort her, but I couldn't move my paws. I wanted to scream in agony, the pain was too much to bear. I tried my hardest to take in a breath. My mouth was parched and my breath labored.

I watched as my human cuddled me softly and tried to comfort me. I tried to comfort her as much as I could, though the meow I had given was labored and very unnatural. This instead brought my human more grief. She sat on the floor, wrenching out every tear she could.

I wanted to cry with her, but my eyes did not respond.

I felt my vision blur. My human looked at me, sobbing the whole time.

I meowed one last time, saying goodbye to my human and thanking her for what she did for me.

Finally, I let go of the last signs of life.

I opened my eyes to the sight of two humans, one a male, the other a female. They were smiling at me and saying how cute I was. I did not understand what was going on.

Suddenly, I started to cry. What was going on? I was not sad!

"He's so cute! What should we name him?" came the voice of the man.

"I've already thought about it!" the lady smiled, "How's Daniel?"

I stared at the two humans. I was given that name? What was I human?

I looked down. I was shocked.

In front of me were a pair of human hands!

It had been twenty years since I had been reincarnated as a human. Being a human was different than what I thought it was like.

Humans have to work to get something called money, they don't just spend time with their pets they love talking to other humans; some love making friends, some interact with others to benefit themselves, and some look for the love of their life.

I was not into talking to others though, I decided to stick with my species. Cats are quiet and understanding, I owned one in the apartment that I had rented out. He was rather talkative for a cat, though he mainly complained about the food.

Another thing I was lucky about was, I had many cat-like senses still intact, which meant that I was fast and could hear well.

Where I worked, everything was not hard, you just had to know how to do your work and not be distracted. My bosses also liked me because I did well. I also got promoted a lot. I guess the most recent one was a big promotion because my co-workers were extremely jealous. I talked to my co-workers to get help, but otherwise, I kept to myself and did my work.

Life went on though, and I worked as hard as I always did and tried to make my living. Being a human was not easy at all.

I sighed and went back to staring at the screen.

I chuckled as I thought how ironic it was that I used to constantly destroy electronics, and yet, here I was, working with one.

I hit myself, I needed to get to work!

I woke up with my alarm blaring into my ears. I swore that thing was the life of me. My cat friend, whose name was Mich, seemed to agree with me, he stared at me with a, "Please! Turn it off!"

"Fine, your majesty!" I teased as I turned off the alarm.

Mich gave me a hard stare.

Having been a cat all of my eight lives, I was used to guessing what cats were saying.
