-Mason Sivan-

"You can do what?" Maon asked Kayla as they treaded through the rest of the forest.

"I told you. I can ya know...sence stuff" Kayla said.

Liam spoke a bit sarcasticly "So your like si-kick. Can you read minds too?"

"No. I mean..It's part of our element's power."

"What?" Liam said confused.

Kayla raised her hand making the air push through their clothes and hair. "We control the air stupid! Ican sence stuff that moves through it!"

Liam laughed a bit "Thats ridicules!"

Mason looked at Kayla and she seemed really peeved off. "Oh really!.......Bird!"

Liam laughed some more which Mason thought wasnt really a good idea. "What? Is insane part of your power too?"

Suddenly out of no where a huge black wally dopper bird swooped down right in front of Liam's face. He stopped and stummbled back a little. Mason was a bit suprised too and he stopped.

Kayla pressed o now leading their group.

Mason turned towards Liam. "Should've listened" Then he turned and followed Kayla.

Mason herd Liam mumble under his breath "Girls" Then both the boys follwed probably the best person to lead them in the dark.

-Kayla Mandell-

"We're close" Kayla opened her eyes. She felt heeps of people moving around very close together. I the direction they were headed it could only be one place, The Narrows.

"Okay." Liam came up behind her. Kayla started to feel her heart beat increase. She thought about when she kissed Liam. Kayla hoped that when they were out of danger she could do it again.

"I think I should take te lead now. Mason you go at the back and keep an eye on Kayla. And-"

"Why does Mason need to be keeping an eye on me? I'm perfectly fine at taking care of myself." Kayla said to Liam. She eyed him making waiting for what he was going to say.

Liam tenssed up. "Kayla your a girl-and there's nothing wrong with that, but in the Narrows at night girls have been known to well.....Ah"

Kayla knew what he was talking about and insently felt flattered that he cared. He so likes you. Kayla thought. She was scared that the kiss might have been to much for Liam or too soon, but she was now thinking that it had been the perfect time.

Liam went in front of them now taking the lead. He walked causely through th clearing ofth forest.

Kayla's feet were a bit numb. They had been walking throught a forest for about half and Kayla was still in her school uniform. A grey dress with the school emblem patched in the left hand corner. And her black school shoes were made for walking through hallways NOT long bushwalks.

The boys were the same sort of thing except it wasn't a dress it was a short sleeve grey T-shirt with the emblem patched in the left hand corner. And they wore black pants with school shoes which Mason had gotten right but Liam perfered to wear is white converse.

The seenery around them slowly changed. A few tents poped up here and there between the trees. Liam told them to just keep moving and not to stare.

The tents were ratty and old nothing like the house she shared with her mother. She felt sorry for these people who lived here. It was no way to live. Her eyes followed a perticular tent. There was a small boy sleeping on a matt out the front. Probably because there wasn't enough room inside for him. His clothes were ripped and worn. His skin was dirtyfrom sleeping in the dirt.

He reminded Kayla of the boy she helped many years ago. The boy who layed in her bed. The boy who held her handfor comfort. Kayla siged "Liam"

"What?" Liam turned.

Kayla shook her mind off the boy "Nothing"

In a daze she walked into to Liam. "You okay kayla?" He asked

Kayla brought herself back from the daze she was in "Oh yeah fine. Why?"

From behind Mason gripped her hand. "We're here. The Narrows"
