Destiny 2: Frozen In Time

Chapter 17: Terminal Velocity

"This blizzard is kicking our asses out here! How much longer until we reach the crypt?!" Spe-7 asks as the trio attempts to stick close together to avoid losing each other in the biting winds.

"I don't know! I do see one of those bubbles up ahead!" Suzuka calls out.

"We better get there quick, I don't feel anything in my feet!" Gold shouts as the trio manages to reach one of the bubbles and they instantly feel warm relief as soon as they're inside. Unfortunately the Fallen also happen to be in that same bubble and they instantly engage the trio in combat when they realize that they've been intruded on.

"Quickly retaliate!" Suzuka yells as the trio brings out their weapons and they begin making short work of the Fallen. The captains in question sport a different shield than normal- one that's been corrupted with void energy- making them a little harder to kill than normal, but it doesn't stand up very long to Gold's hand cannon explosions and powerful kicks.

"All right, that takes care of the Fallen here, let's try and find the next one." Gold says as the trio zooms off in their sparrows once more, keeping together to avoid losing each other.

"I think the crypt is just up ahead!" Spe-7 says as she sees a large building. "Let's move!" And with that the trio manages to reach the building and head inside before they freeze over, and the trio takes in their new surroundings.

"So this is where Taiki was first built..." Suzuka mumbles as she notices various pods containing exo bodies.

"Where do we get onto the morning star from here?" Spe-7 asks. "I hope they realize we're trying to save them."

"They're the Fallen. I don't think they would recognize a hero from a traitor if it were staring them in the face." Gold mumbles. "So do we have to get past here?" She asks as she notices that the room they're in appears to be some sort of high security room.

"I don't think those doors are opening unless we crack this system." Spe-7 says. "So let's hop to it." And with that they trip the system, causing sirens to blare and Fallen to emerge in droves. Before they can do anything though a certain fallen exo emerges and he begins slaughtering the Fallen alongside the trio.

"Taiki?!" Spe-7 asks in shock. His eyes have still gone completely dark but the tendrils that once jutted out of his back appear to have been hidden.

"We've been sent here to help you out." Ghost says in that dark voice again. "We may be of the darkness but we also see that you are wielding it. We should at least help you with this as we all want to be on that station." And with that Ghost joins the fight, firing red lasers at various dregs and vandals. "Do not mind us, focus on breaking that system."

"I don't believe it..." Suzuka mumbles as Taiki gets back to back with her and they both massacre the Fallen that are surrounding them.

"How do we crack this system?! I'm getting tired of the sirens!" Gold shouts.

"Get the augments, it will all make sense when all of you have at least one." Ghost says as a vandal emerges with some sort of scanner eyepiece. It attempts to stab the exo in the face but he simply grabs it's throat and freezes it from there, leaving the scanner eyepiece intact. "Here, take this." Taiki says as he hands the scanner eyepiece to Suzuka before shattering the frozen vandal right then and there. Another vandal emerges, this time carrying a scope of some sorts on it's shock rifle. Gold moves in and destroys this vandal before noticing the scope and she decides to put it on her hand cannon.

"Whoa, this is actually pretty cool!" Gold says as she notices that the scope is high tech and shots that she fires are able to bring down shields in a matter of seconds.

"You're going to need those, so keep them with you." Ghost says as a final vandal emerges, one equipped with a strange gauntlet on one of it's four hands. This vandal finds itself subjected to a quick stab to the face from Spe-7 and she puts on the gauntlet. "You all have the augments now. It will all make sense from here, but you need to crack those tubes with nuclear cores."

"Oh this is gonna be fun." Gold snickers as Spe-7 sees an area where cores would drop and punches it with her gauntlet. A beeping noise is heard as the gauntlet makes contact with the wall next to the core dispenser and one drops.

"Where does this thing need to go?" Spe-7 asks as Suzuka scans the tubes.

"Over there!" Suzuka shouts as she points at the tube that needs to be hit, and the equine hunter lobs it, destroying the tube and disrupting the system for a few seconds. "This is actually a bit easier than I thought!"

"I'll keep on disrupting the Fallen! You two get the rest of those tubes!" Gold calls out as the process is repeated. Once the last tube is smashed a whirring down sound can be heard as the security system shuts down and the Fallen rush towards a door that opens, revealing a portal that will take them inside the Morning Star, but before the trio can react Taiki punches the ground and dark tendrils ensnare the trio's legs, preventing them from moving.

"What the?!" Suzuka shouts.

"Thank you. You were of good use." Ghost says as Taiki rushes through the portal and the dark tendrils vanish.

"We have to catch up!" Spe-7 shouts as the trio quickly follows suit.
