SIX MONTHS LATER"How did the trial go?" Bella says through a mouthful of chips as we walk down the isles of HEB.
"You know you're suppose to buy those before you eat them right? I swear Bella, sometimes you act like you're the one pregnant." I roll my eyes before opening up the pickle jar and eating a pickle.
"I am..." Bella says before taking the pickles from me before I can drop them from shock.
"What? When did you find out?" I quickly pull her into my embrace as I give her a tight bearhug.
My best friend is pregnant. We've always talked about having our kids close together so they could grow up and be best friends like us.
"I found out last night. Ben doesn't even know. I wanted you to be the first to know, since you're my sista mate." She smiles down at me before shoving another chip in her mouth.
"I'm so happy for you, Bella. Ben's going to be excited too. Shocked, but afterwards he'll be joyful."
"Yeah... well apparently Ben's pullout game is weak. We were both so horny and couldn't wait till we got to the frat house. He promised to pull out, but we all know how that went. I mean... who the hell doesn't keep condoms in their truck?" She throws her hands in the air before stealing a pickle from me.
"Hey, those are mine bítch." I glare at her and sigh when her eyes begin to water. "Fine only because you're pregnant and I'm excited to be an aunt."
She looks at me before smiling and pushing the cart. "So the trial?"
Janines trial took place yesterday where she was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Elias took it hard when we left the courtroom. He had a panic attack in the car. I was able to calm him down and luckily he woke up in a bright and cheery mood today.
"Oh yeah. They gave her life without the possibility of parole." I shrug my shoulder before turning to look at her when she stops walking. "Elias didn't want to go, but I think he needed that closure. He's been doing good for the past six months, but yesterday it was hard for him. I feel like it reopened wounds that never properly healed. It's going to take time and he's going to have a few ugly days, but I think he'll get there overtime."
"Time doesn't stop the hurt Lan. With time the wounds will close, but the scars that are left behind are scars to remind us of the pain. The pain that made us stronger. He will get through this. He's one of the strong ones."
That is why I love her. I wipe my tears before pulling her in for a hug. "Look at you. All smart and shit. When did that happen?"
"Must be the pregnancy brains making me smart." She jokes.
I finish getting the groceries I needed for the house and pay before leaving the store. Bella and I part ways when we reach our cars.
When I pull up to the house Elias jogs outside to help me out the car and to help with the groceries. I smile up at him as he leans down and kisses my lips while rubbing my huge belly.
"She's kicking." He chuckles before picking up my shirt and kissing my stomach. "Are you still having contractions?"
"You know she always kicks when she hears your voice and they're still there... though not as far as part as they were this morning. I think we'll have her with us by tomorrow."
"And I can't wait to meet my princess. It feels like you've been pregnant forever and before you ask practice was okay. The new coach is amazing as well and I know it's going to be an amazing season." Elias smiles down at me before walking to the trunk of my car to retrieve the groceries.
