CHAPTER • 6

I slipped into my rose gold dress and started curling my hair from the bottom. I did my natural makeup and wore my matching heels. When I was all ready I heard the bell ringing I opened the door and saw Joe

"Well hey you" he hugged me. Joe is one of my close friends, I invited him with me to the gala as I lied to Alexander about having a date.

this wasn't a date as Joe is like my brother, he was just nice enough to come with me.
The good part is that Alexander doesn't know which makes it easier for me.

"Hi!!" I hugged him back " how have you been?" I asked while pulling away

"I'm good, what about you" he said

"Me too" I smiled

He entered as I signalled him to.

"Would you like something to drink?" I asked before grabbing my purse

"Nah, let's just leave. We'll have plenty of drinks there" I winked

I chuckled.

We got out and got into his car. We caught up with our lives during the ride as it's been so long since I met him.

After a while we reached, we entered the gala I must say it looked incredible.

my eyes searched for Alexander. I saw some people I knew professionally I greeted them and introduced Joe as my date.

My eyes roamed around and met his.

I see his eyes roaming down my body with a smile on his face. I noticed that he was formally dressed but he didn't have a blazer on and his sleeves were rolled fuck.

I moved my eyes away as I didn't want to talk to him suddenly I saw Zayn with his date I started walking toward him with Joe.

"Hey!" Zayn greeted me when he noticed me.

"Hi!" I said while we shook hands.

"This is Stacey, my date" he introduced the girl beside me as I shook hands with her with a smile on my face.

"Nice to meet you" she smiled

"You too, this is Joe an old friend of mine and my date" I introduced Joe as they greeted him.

Zayn and Stacey excused themselves for god knows what. And joe went to bring some drinks for us as I just said hi to people I know or greeted me.

My eyes searched for Joe as it's been a while since he went.

I suddenly bump into someone.

"Sorry I- "I stopped when I saw Alexander with his stupid smirk on his face

"Can't you see and walk" my words changed as I crossed my arms.

"Well you look beautiful" he said ignoring my rudeness. I felt my cheeks heating up just because of this small compliment damn.

"I know I do" Suddenly I pushed away my shyness. I don't want him to know that he doesn't still have that effect on me.

He smirked.

"Why don't I get us some drinks?" He asked

"No. I told you I have a date, he went to get drinks only" I replied

"Are you sure because I see him drinking with someone and he kinda seems to enjoy her company" he lifts his eye brow.

I furrow my eyebrows and see where Alexander was seeing.
I saw joe with some girl and he was saying something that made her laugh. A lot.

Ahh fucking Joe! I asked to do him this one favour!!

"You know what? I don't need any date" I said and walked away from him.

I got to the bar and got a drink. And I started drinking and drinking until I felt I shouldn't.

My eyes searched for Joe but that asshole disappeared with that girl. I don't know why'd I trust him in the first place, he just can't keep it in his pants.

The music that was playing in the background changed and they started playing more slow songs. It made me feel nostalgic.

My thoughts were interrupted by some guy coming towards me.

"Hey!" he said while offering his hand to shake

I accepted it. And replied "hi!"

"You're the new lawyer, right?" He asked

"Yeah" I replied

"Wow you look very pretty" he said in a creepy way

"Um thanks" I forced a smile

"would you like to dan-" the guy stopped after seeing something behind me. Weirdo

I turned and saw Alex. Alex looked at the creepy guy with his dark eyes.

"Would you like to dance Miss Rose?" Alex asked offering his hand

"Yes" I replied and I accepted his hand and we slowly danced to the song 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran and started playing. Damn, these songs bring so many memories of him and I. We were so close for the first time in a long time. I could smell his cologne.

Alex stared at me.

"What?" I asked

"Nothing, it's just- um memories" he said

"Of us" I completed

"Yeah" he whispered while staring right into my eyes.

My lips started forming a smile while he spun me, everyone changed partners but he caught me again.

"We were supposed to change" I mumbled

"I'm not letting you go" he said and the song changed to 'This Town' by Niall Horan

'Waking up to kiss you and nobody's there The smell of your perfume still stuck in the air

This song just matched my situation so much. I slowly rested my head on his shoulder while his hands were wrapped around me, i could feel his hot breath on my neck which gave my shiver down my spine. We were dancing slowly.

I didn't realized that I may be over him But I'll never stop loving him.

We just stared each other while dancing. When the song was finished I pulled away from him and walked away from stage.

He followed me. I turned and said

"Umm I should get going now"

He nodded with a smile. Damn I can't with him now!

I just walked away from him and his adorable smile.

I started searching for Joe. When I found him I dragged him away from the girl he was talking or I don't wanna know what the whole night.

"C'mon we gotta go now" I yelled at him

"Fine let me just give her a goodbye kiss" he said

"Oh my- you fucking asshole" I yelled again angrily

"Okay okay sorry" he said and we walked to his car. I was pissed at him for totally abandoning me tonight.

He kept apologizing and told me how he met this amazing girl.

"Well I'll forgive you if you like her that much" I scoffed

"Thank you! I saw you enjoying the night too" he smirked

"Yeah to be honest I did enjoy that's why I'm talking to you after you abandoned me" I rolled my eyes

" but he's still the person who broke my heart so.." I completed

After a while I reached home. I thanked
and taunted Joe that time.

I changed into comfy clothes. Checked my phone last time and then went to sleep. Tried not think about what happened today and tried to forget all the things he made me feel.
