From the legends told
From land to sky, new and old
Through the years, dear little child
Have we been feared and scorned
Our homes became the field
Where battles raged, live or yield
Courage beat deep in our hearts
Till the earth was red from war

One day a man was slain
His blood ran down his child's face
Anger brewed from deep within
The grief too much to bear
The son picked up the sword
Fallen from his father's cold embrace
Thrust it through the soldier's heart
And became no better than them

And then
Fury burned so bright
The heart
Solid, cold as ice
No more
Could he feel a thing
So numb
Shadow of a soul

The boy
Now becomes a man
Those 'round
Cheer his name again
But now
Is he truly a man?
His eyes
Vacant, hard as stone

Revenge
Is his name
This is no man
An empty tomb
What happens now?
There's no one left
Tell me, hero
Was it worth it in the end?
