Chapter Two: Come up the hospital

Arrow's POV

I climb out the car finding police already outside the property.

I head towards the house with Allac beside me.

We meet one police officer outside the door. We both show our badges to the officer before he let's us in side.

I head straight for the front room to find two ten year old boys who look exactly the same. Brown hair and green eyes. One has a black eye and the other has a nasty cut on his arm.

"Ambulance is on the way," the police officer who had been sitting with them informed us.

I nod as he stood up and he went into the kitchen.

I sit down beside the two boys. "I'm Arrow and this is Allac we are from Embrace. What has happened?" I ask them.

"Kay is a little nervous. But I told him we shouldn't have to go through this again. Our mum and step dad started fighting this morning. Kay got in the crossfire and I stepped in to try help not that I was much help. We reported things before and warnings have been given but I don't feel we given much of a look at even though we are being abused."

I look at the young boy and how brave he is being. Braver then I was when I use to get beat up by my uncle, yet I was a bit younger then the two young lads in front of me at the time.

"Your very brave. This is the first step in getting you in a better environment. Your Jay right?" I ask him.

"Yeah...what is going to happen?" he asks putting his arm around his brother to comfort him.

"We will take statements from you both. And we will need to speak to your mum and step dad. But I'm afraid that going forward they will not be fit to look after you. I have seen the reports and warnings. This will not continue. I promise you that," I smile at him trying to reassure him that his brother and him will be okay.

"Do you want me to take the kids statements?" Allac asks me.

I nod. "I will speak to the parents."

I get up off the sofa and head into the kitchen. I find the mum and step dad both at the table. Both looking as beat up as the other. How could you even allow something like this to happen in front of their children is beyond me. I take second look at the step dad and almost instantly didn't like him. He is glaring at me in an unwelcome way.

"I will need to take statements from you both. But be warned the out come is likely to be the same. You not only have had warnings in the past you physically hurt Kay and Jay. And I will stop at nothing to get justice for these kids. I am the boss of Embrace and I am also a social worker when need be. I see the evidence clear as day here."

The step dad had ross from his feat and now stood inches from me.

"Those kids aren't as innocent as you think!"

"No kid deserves to be used as a personal punching bag. No one deserves to be abused. And you are all the same use some excuse to cover up the fact that your not a bully."

He shoved me quite hard. I step back but glare back at him. "My point exactly only thing you seem to know is violence."

He punched me this time right in the stomach. The police officer stepped in pinning the step dad to the table and handcuffed him.

"Sorry about that Arrow," the police officer says.

"Nothihg I can't handle. Are you going to give me your statements or are we going to have to do this the hard way."

Colin's POV

I tried to ring Arrow three times but no response. He must be dealing with a difficult case.

I'm standing outside reception waiting for Madison and Zack to finish. I am taking them back to Embrace until their mum can pick them up later. 

I really do hope Arrow is okay and I'll have to act like it is. I still got to sort through some paperwork and I have one session with the kids before I'll be heading home today. I hope Arrow can still come out tonight. Table is booked already. I could always go on my own and still meet Jerrod and Conner but I hope I don't have too.

I watch as Zack and Madison come out and head over to me.

"Tell me your running the session today?" Zack asks me.

"Of course I am. How has it been?" I ask them as they take my hand and we head carefully across the road.

"Really good. I've been told I'm learning fast," smiled Madison.

"That is brilliant. Wait till Arrow and your parents hear."

I watch as a police car pulls up beside the road. The window is rolled down to reveal Arrows, Madison and Zacks dad.

"It seems Arrow is dealing with a serious case and your mum won't be able to pick Madison and Zack up till seven I hope that is okay. I've got to assist my son. I still find that weird," he smiles at us.

"No wonder he not picked up the phone. Sure of course not a problem."

"See you later kids!"

We watch as he rolls up the window and drives away.

"Looks like you get to spend more time with me today."

"I hope everything is okay," says Madison.

"Don't worry. That is for us adults to do not you."

Arrow's POV

I found myself sitting on a bench in the back garden of the house. I run my fingers through my hair feeling a little sick.

A paramedic came out into the garden handing me a icebag. I take it gracefully and put it on the most sore area that is my left eye. Who knew women could deal such a hard punch.

"You doing to be okay or you want to go to the hospital with Kay and Jay?" She asks me.

"I do want to come. I won't feel like I've done my part till those kids have somewhere to stay tonight."

"You do realise I can do that right? I mean you just took a beating," says Allac as he arrived beside us.

"Do you think because of that I'm going to let those kids down? No way!"

"If you say so boss," but he smiled. He knows me too well.

"Right those two are on the way to police station. They will be spending the night in the cells but I think its a pretty solid case now. No way people like that deserve to be parents," says my dad as he walks out the back door towards us.

"Yet the cases are rising everyday. I'm struggling to keep up."

"That's why I offered to help Jay and Kay you still got that other case you said you was struggling to do," says Allac.

"I have more then enough of the day left to sort both."

Allac fell quiet before going back inside. "He is just only trying to help," my dad begun.

"I know and I be lost with out him. You got anything that can help with this sickly feeling?" I ask paramedic.

She looked at me before sighing. "I rather you come up the hospital."

I sigh, "I said I was anyway."

"I mean for you to be checked not just for Kay and Jay."

"Fine."
