Tommy stepped from the porch. The air reeked of smoke and death. The day was refusing to greet him as his shoes clapped on the hard pavement. His feet scratched against the black roadway. A loud groaning sound echoed through the air. Tommy recognized the sound.
"Steel? Metal of some sort?" He thought.
It wasn't long after on his hike he heard a loud crash and thought about what structure had broken. He stared across a field outside of town. There, there it was. The old building stood against a tree line alone. A broken car rest in the parking lot. He stepped into the stiff, thick, brown grass. The crunch startled him from the silence he'd been expire inching for seemingly years. He calmly strolled his way to the near center of the field. He caught a glint from the corner of his eye and turned to see it. The loud noise terrified him and the dry field soil exploded just in front of him. Adrenaline powered him to sprint many yards to the building. He pulled the gun from his jeans. He placed the sights on the shiny metal and pressed his finger to the trigger. Once again the unusual blast made him jump, and the reflection faded away. "What happened? Did I hit it?" He questioned himself.
He kicked the handle of the metal front door and it flew open knocking the trim inside to the dirty carpet floor. Though the clinic had only been abandoned three days it looked and felt to have been deserted since the First World War. The computers where off. He pressed the button behind the monitor. The computer came on. He clicked on the Chrome Icon. There was a blue screen with white letters. That read, "No Connection Available. Error Code 666:100: GLOBAL CONNECTION TERMINATED". The message shocked him. He walked to the cooler, full of medication. He piled all of it in his backpack. And lay there for the night.
