"You know you didn't have to come with me. Now people are staring," I muttered. And I was absolutely right. When we walked into the cafe, all of the students, as well as several other customers, were looking at us.
It made me feel a little uneasy.
Y's hand reached out and grabbed mine. I turned in his direction and smiled. "Even if it's just you, they'll probably stare," he suddenly whispered.
"Wait, what?" My brows furrowed in response to what he said, but he tried to ignore me. On his other hand, he had the notes I was going to give Evan, my block mate. Y wanted to carry it for some reason so I just gave it to him earlier.
"Can you tell me where your block mate is so we can go?"
I thought I heard him snicker, so I returned my gaze to him, only to be greeted by his sweet smile once more. My brows furrowed in surprise at how quickly his expression changes.
But I decided not to say anything because I knew he was tired, but he had to accompany me. I'm sure he did it because he's worried I'll be alone. The boys, as always, are extremely protective of us. And Y is generally like this; if he can, he joins me. He'll most likely take me home as well.
My eyes searched the cafe, and I saw Evan sitting alone in the far corner. He was looking around as well, and when he saw me heading in his direction, he grinned, but I could see how surprised he was when he saw Y walking alongside me.
I tried again to smile at him, but he averted his eyes. When Y and I arrived at his table, he instantly stood up and gave an uncomfortable smile.
"Hi, Louise. I had no idea you'd bring anyone with you,"
Y propped his head to the side and locked his gaze on Evan. Am I not supposed to be here? Is this a date, or something else?" He sneered. Evan's eyes fell on our entangled hands as Y's grip tightened.
"Here are the notes you asked. Try making your own next time. Lou needs to study too." My eyes widened when I heard how irritated Y sounded.
"Heron..." I spoke in hushed tones, hoping to get his attention because he didn't seem to be in the mood. I felt bad because, although he might have been exhausted, he felt compelled to accompany me.
Even's face became flushed. Y had always been straightforward. While Z barely speaks and is only interested in Mari, Y, on the other hand, says everything. That's also why he irritates Zammy and Mari so much. Though Zamara is a different case. She's a little frightening.
"It's fine," I assured Even. "We'll go if there's nothing else," I said my goodbyes to Evan because I was afraid of what Y would say afterward.
"What do you mean, I want to drink coffee?" Y objected, but I yanked him away from Evan, who was visibly shaken. I shouldn't have brought Y with me in the first place.
"Let's just get some sweets for your mom and eat at your house. I'd like to spend more time with Elle "I sulked.
Y's smile brightens almost instantly. It's as if he heard some good news.
"All right, then, let's go."
He drew closer to the counter. I felt dizzy as my eyes quickly wandered to the cakes and pastries right there, I was instantly hungry.
"Do you want anything specific?" he asked. His hand now on my waist as I look at all those mouth-watering pastries.
I just chose everything I wanted to eat without even thinking about it. I had to point everything again so the cashier could process the order because she was too focused on Y. It's nothing new anyway. Y easily attracts attention.
When I realized how much we bought, I bit my lower lip. Y had to bring three boxes of sweets for me, while I carried one for his mother.
"You didn't have to pay for my sweets," I explained shyly, but he simply winked.
"Hush, Lou. We'll share, right?"
I gave him a friendly smile and a quick nod. We were in his car and driving to their house in a matter of minutes.
I promised I'd hang out with Elle last time. I haven't found the time to do so because she's also busy fighting with Latch. Besides, our class schedules prevent us from hanging out freely.
Y was whistling as he drive. I was puzzled as I looked at him. "You sounded so happy," I said.
He turned his attention towards me and noticed how his cheeks looked red. Is he blushing?
"Are you feeling hot? Your cheeks are crimson red," I ask in worry. He may have sounded irritated earlier because he was not feeling well. That made me feel even worse. "You're not feeling well. I should not have burdened you into coming with me. That way, you could have taken a rest earlier."
"What? No!" he exclaimed almost immediately I was chewing my lower lip, worried for him.
"It's simply hot in here. Let me see what I can do about it," He leaned forward and fiddled with the front controls. But despite his assurance, I still felt bad.
I noticed Z reading a book on the couch as soon as we arrived at their place. Their mother was also there, on the phone with someone.
When she saw me walking alongside Y, her eyes widened.
"Oh, honey!" she exclaimed softly as she waved her hand in my direction. I smiled at her and moved in closer to kiss her on the cheeks the moment I came close to her.
I laughed as she pinched my cheeks as she was talking to someone.
Z lifted his gaze and gave me a smile. I moved closer to him and sat beside him as Y took the box from my hand and walked away. He headed to the direction of their kitchen.
"Are you supposed to be spending time with Elle?" Z questioned, his gaze returning to the book he was reading. It wasn't a novel like my older brother's, which Xander reads whenever he's with Lan.
I gave a shy nod. Z can be intimidating at times, unlike Y, who always smiles at me.
"She's with Latch. She just left the house ten minutes ago."
"Ohhhh..." I murmured. It wasn't Elle's fault because I forgot to contact her about it. I should've expected Latch and her to be together all the time.
"It's all right. I'm sure Y won't mind hanging out with you instead." he meaningfully added though I wasn't quite sure I got that.
