CHAPTER 8:
Tears.
Wanda

"You were going to what?!"

"Wanda, I didn't mean it-"

"Didn't mean it? What would have happened if you left, and the government stormed this place looking for me?" I retorted, "and killed them for trying to protect me? And take away Rachel? Because they won't take their chances on her. Not like they did with me."

"That wouldn't happen."

I was in disbelief, "you don't know that. And abandoning me, after everything I've been through?"

"Rachel, Wanda, I was gonna come back for you," Dick put his hand on her shoulder.

And all she had to do was touch his hand before shoving it off, and said,
"Liar."

"You were never coming back for us."

"Well, hello there, you four. Oh, sorry, I mean five," A voice sounded from the doorway and I looked to see a family just standing there.

Smiling.

"Who the fuck are these guys?" Hank walked up to them, but was immediately knocked onto his back by the father of the group.

"Come on," Dick grabbed her and I and ushered us to the back.

"Wanda, no-"

"You've lost my trust," I cut him off.

"You don't get to put me anywhere and expect me to stay."

They had quickly started to make their way through them, meaning they were experienced and this wasn't coincidence. The daughter came at me with some kind of rope, but I quickly dodged it and decided that I've had enough.

My hands made a closing motion around her throat and the red surrounded her throat. She started coughing and reaching for nothing, which stopped the fighting momentarily. The father started to advance towards me, but I held my hand up towards him.

"No one. Move," I spat, already pissed off.

"Leave, or you will watch her eyes pop out of her-agh!"

Apparently, they had no reason to keep her.

Meaning they didn't care about the risk.

The boy, who I had missed, had come up behind me and knocked me in the head with a thick piece of wood. It released my hold on her and I fell, clutching my head. I could barely look up before he then hit my jaw and my back collided with the concrete floor.

Get up, Wanda.

You're stronger than this.

But I wasn't fast enough. As always. And I heard Hanks scream of terror as the Dove cage was completely destroyed by Dawn being thrown through it, like a rag doll.

Like it was easy.

And the next thing I knew, I was out cold.

_______________

"Wanda," I felt the room around me spinning as I opened my eyes and immediately held my hands up.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. It's just me," It got clearer and even though I knew it was Dick, that wasn't stopping me.

"Get out."

"Wanda-"

"Get. Out," I had tears pricking my eyes. How could he not understand that paying off a perfectly happy couple to keep an eye on me was a complete invasion of my consent? That it wasn't going to be okay?

That it hurt?

"Please, just let me explain."

"The last time I let someone do that, I had a collar around my neck," A tear slipped out.

"I don't want to see you, I don't want you to call me or text me. I am done."

He looked defeated and just nodded before walking out, and for the first time in a long time, I felt completely and utterly broken.
