After that interaction, I've hardly been able to keep myself still during work. I feel like I've consumed all of the caffeine in the damn coffee shop. My head's spinning, my heart's racing, I can't keep my mind off of him. I count five times in a single hour where I nearly spill hot coffee on myself.
"Are you okay, Autumn?", Serena asks suspiciously.
"I'm fine!", I nearly yell, "Everything's totally, absolutely, perfectly fine!"
"You're not acting like it. I saw that Jon gave you his number."
I sigh, lifting myself up onto the counter, "Why are you so smart?"
"You don't even need to have average intelligence to the fact that both of you have it bad for each other. That's none of my business though, just go take a quick break."
Finally.
I grab the sticky note from my pocket and press in Jon's numbers as my hands are shaking. I check, double check, and triple check that the number is right and press call.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Autumn!"
"Well, yeah, I could definitely recognize that voice from anywhere. Someone seems very eager to call me."
I feel a shiver up my spine. I can hear his crooked smirk through the phone. He's flirting again.
"And what if I was? What are you going to do about it?"
"I see how it is now. You know exactly what I can do about it."
"Do I?"
"So, Ms. Eager to Call Me, with what intentions did you call me with?"
"You know."
"Do I?"
"Shut up."
"I can do that. Meet me in my office at 6. Tonight. Or else."
"Is that a threat?"
Once again, I hear him smirk through the call, "It could be. I'll see you then?"
I nod, "You know it."

Time moves by very, very, very slowly. I'm checking my watch constantly as if it'll bring me any comfort; it doesn't.
I'm itching to just ditch work and go up to his office the entire day, but I have a feeling that being around him with an office full of people not being able to do... anything would be worse so I decide against it. Plus, I've already been a bad enough coworker lately.
So the day drags on. Seemingly with no end, until the end does come.
I guess it's an early day for the Senate because I see Amy walking up 15 minutes before close looking ready to go.
Fuck.
"Autumn! We wrapped everything up pretty early today, are you ready to go home?"
Fuck.
Serena jumps in all of a sudden, saving my ass once again. "We were actually going to go see a movie together tonight!"
Thank god for Serena.
I jump in on the lie, "Yep! Doctor Strange, we're really excited too."
Amy nods, "Sounds good! I'll get one of my staffers to drop me off at the apartment later. Have fun, girls!". She comes over and gives me a hug, which I gladly accept, and then she leaves.
I turn to Serena, legitimately confused, "Why did you do that?"
"I know your situation, I know how weird it is. I wouldn't be helping you if I've never been in a relationship where I was fucked up. I just want to try to make your life a little easier. Just.. don't be stupid with him, okay?"
~
I can hardly keep myself together as I try to find my way to Jon's office. To my delight, all of the hallways are nearly abandoned, with only a few people looking like they're leaving.
I finally find it, I take a deep breath, close my eyes.
No turning back now.
I enter to find the large office with no one in there. It's absolutely silent. I decide it's best to just knock on the wall to make anyone (hopefully Jon) aware of my presence and continue walking, slowly opening the door to his personal office.
All of a sudden, I feel myself lifted off the ground.
"Jon", I exclaim. He's lifted me up in his arms bridal style, and honestly I feel on top of the world in his arms.
It's such a warm and exhilarating feeling.
He smiles, "Hey you."
"I've waited all day for this."
"Me too."
I trace my finger on the tip of his cheekbone, "In that case, what are we waiting for?"
He puts me down on the ground as I feel his hands to travel to the crease of my back as mine caress his cheeks. Once again, time seemed to drag slowly before our lips finally connected for the first time. Feeling his soft, warm lips on mine makes the want in me even more pronounced.
Being able to kiss Jon Ossoff has awaken something in my soul.
The kiss progressed, every second leaving me eager for more. I had never felt so alive before this moment, in his arms, his lips on mine, just his.
It's a dream come true.
I'm so focused on the kiss I hardly focus that he's moved us next to his desk, only to realize when he starts tugging on my sweater.
~
After it's all over, I can't believe it. I spent some of my childhood in a senate office, only to just.. Never mind.
I'm filled with glee and nervous excitement as I glance over at Jon who seems to be in the same state of mind.
"Soooo, that was pretty great, I'd say.", shyly acknowledging Jon in front of me.
He's so handsome.
"I'd have to agree with that statement, as long as pretty great is synonymous to amazing."
I laugh as I stretch my leg out onto his own, just wanting to feel close to him again. "For sure."
Suddenly, his tone turns serious, "Hey, I know everything happened super fast today. But I really like you. And I know that there's a lot of factors in play here, but I just want to see where this goes."
I move closer to him and start combing through his hair and I respond, "I really really like you too, I just want to see what happens. Also, can I just say that you're so hot?"
He caresses my shoulder, "And can I just say that you're so pretty?"
We lean in for a nice, short kiss that just makes my heart swell with happiness.
"Can we keep this on the down-low for a little while? Just so we can see what we want and where this is heading?", I ask him.
"Of course. I guess that means your apartment's a no-go since Amy's there during the week? I assume you don't want her to know about us yet?"
I shake my head aggressively, "I want her to know, just not yet. Someday, I promise."
Jon pulls me closer to him and kisses me on the cheek, "Someday, for sure."
author's note: so something finally happened! don't worry, there's still drama, romance, and more left to come!
