"We probably can't stay here all night."

Jon and I had been cuddling on the couch in his office for about an hour, occasionally talking but really just relishing each other in. Whatever we had, we just took ourselves to the next level. And I was ecstatic, but also scared. Because now I know I'll do everything in my power in order not to hurt him.

I lean up from his chest and look at him, "You're probably right. My aunt's expecting me home... thirty minutes ago." I look him in the eye and he laughs. "Should I drop you off at your place?"

He smiles, "I'd love that, I made sure all of my staffers left right at 6 so we could have some peace and quiet...". I snicker, "Thanks for taking that precautionary step."

Jon smirks, "Wasn't precautionary, we both knew that this was going to happen, especially after that phone call earlier."

I bite my lip, "I couldn't stop thinking about you all day."

"Me either."

The drive to his place is relatively quiet but not awkward at all. His hand caresses my thigh as I drive through the streets of Washington to find his apartment. There's soft music playing in the background. Everything feels magical and sweet, driving past the lights of monuments and museums. His eyes still glisten and revel in the moonlight. I can feel his eyes on me as I navigate my way through DC, just taking me in. My cheeks are flushed and I find myself in disbelief that I've found someone like him.

When I finally pull up to his place, he stops and pauses, moving closer to me.

"So, I was planning on staying in DC this weekend. Now that you're here, there's not much back home for me. Do you maybe want to do something this weekend?"

I smile at him, letting my hand trail up to his hair, where I brush my fingers through it. God, how I love being able to do this. Then, I get a sinister idea.

"Jon, I have a kinda crazy idea. What if we said screw it and flew up to Niagara Falls tomorrow afternoon and come back Monday morning?" I don't know if this is the smartest or stupidest idea that I've ever had, but I just know that I want to get away from the stress of Washington DC and be with Jon

"I actually love that idea. I'll book tickets tonight, I'll call you later with an update."

"I guess this is good night, then. I had a great time tonight, can't wait till tomorrow."

Jon leans in and gives me a gentle but lingering kiss.

"I had a lot of fun too. See you tomorrow."

I watch him as he walks off, and before he enters his apartment building, I can see him wink at me all the way from the street.

"What is that on your neck?"

I walk into the living room the next morning feeling exhausted and barely able to move my legs. I got home around midnight but didn't fall asleep until 2am since I stayed up late planning our trip.

Since it's Friday, the Senate's off today. So that means Amy's up bright and early ready to head back to Minnesota. I know she mentioned that she had an event to attend in Duluth the next day. That could mean that I could have Jon over this weekend, but honestly I just want to get the hell out of here with him.

Amy is sitting on the couch and staring at me suspiciously, like I have two heads or something.

"Your neck is covered in bruises."

Shit.

I remember back to last night when it must have happened, when he said that he'd be gentle. What a liar.

"Oh, that! I accidentally spilled some coffee on my neck yesterday at work..."

"Huh", Amy says, "And I'm sure that's why you got home at midnight too."
