Chapter 3

"Get. In. The. Car. And. Nobody. Get's. Hurt" The Nazi Officer said, through gritted teeth. I stared at him. I glanced at Mother Fopes who's backing up so she get's to the truck. We follow her, not taking our eyes off of the Nazi. I sit on the mucky seat, glancing at Auntie Miriam who is staring at her feet, silent. I stare at the other four people who are looking at me with pity. I give them a weak smile and take in what they look like.

The tallest one has shaggy hair, blonde. He looks like he's been living on the streets for months. I bet he has, actually. He's wearing a tag around his wrist bearing his name. Jasper. Jasper Greenwood and he's 16 years old. I smile. What a nice name!! However, the other boy that was sitting next to Jasper was very different. This one had a short, flat hairstyle and didn't look like he was from the streets. His name was Noah Lakline and apparently he was 14. Noah looked like he was from a family of elegance and maturity. Noah was very silent and wasn't looking at anything other than his feet.

Although, there were two girls in the van too. The nearest one had short, thick black hair and beautiful green eyes that twinkled in the glints of sunlight, shining through the small window. She, unlike Jasper, was very neat and tidy....except for a hint of blood dripping down her arm. Her name was Eva....Lakline? Like Noah, Eva came from a family of what seems like royalty compared to Jasper. She was 35, my Mother's age if she was here. The girl that was staring at me was very different. She had long, thick blonde hair that matched her blue eyes perfectly. She was wearing normal clothes and looked like she had been living like me! Her tag read...but she didn't have a tag!

"What's your name?" I blurted, covering my mouth with my hand in shock. The girl smiled, putting her hand out.

"Hi...my name's Alberta Bright. I'm 15 years old....and I can't be friends with you because I'm a German!" Alberta half-blurted looking at me sadly. I looked at her puzzled.

"W-Why are you here then? Oh, and my name's Stella Potts! Nice to meet you!" I replied, shaking her awaiting hand before she put her hand down. Alberta smiled. She waved, then looking at Mother Fopes and Auntie Miriam. Mother noticed, immediately smiling at her.

"Hello, dear! My name's Mary Fopes but call me Mrs Fopes! But, dear, do say why you're here!?" Mother Fopes demanded, sweetly. Alberta smiled.

"Hello Mrs Fopes! Well, I'm here because I-I....I'll start from the beginning. My Father is a Nazi and wants Me and Mother to become Nazi with him and follow Hitler's example. Jews are gased at Concentration Camps and my Father kept that a secret for many months until I acidentally found myself at the local Camp and I watched them die. So, I went home and told my Dad that that was not nice and they're just the same as us..But he didn't take it well and has forced me to go to the camps with the Jews..much to my Mother's hatred" She whispered, tears filling her eyes. I frowned. Who does that? Who send their own daughter away because she had an opinion? A monster, I'll tell you.

"What? What a Monster...Why did your Mother marry him?" Mother Fopes said, astonished. Alberta laughed, shaking her hand. I watched in shock. She's laughing??

"Ahh! Mrs Fopes..you're funny! Who knows why my Mother married him? He's a weirdo.." She said, grinning. I laughed.

"But, why are you here?.. Woops, if I was you, I'd whisper!" She whispered. I nodded. Auntie Miriam looked up.

"We're here because us Jews don't last long in this town. Happy enough?" Miriam snapped, glaring at Alberta. I looked at her in shock. I could tell Alberta was upset and probably angry too. I was about to open my mouth to protest when,

"MIRIAM ANNE POTTS. Do not talk to her like that! You've scared the poor thing to death!" Mother Fopes barked. I sssshhhhed them but it was too late.
