Chapter 2
I dreamt about a world with anger and not happiness. I dreamt about a world that was different. But I dreamt about a man's grave. Not just any normal one. I dreamt about Adolf Hitler's grave. His grave was old and mucky. Dashes of blood swipped down the headstone, taking away any breath I needed to breathe. His grave was a grave that was in a lonely graveyard. Next to his, was Mother Fopes. I knew what this dream meant. Did I mention, I am pyhsic somehow? Whatever I dream about comes to life. So, now I know that Mother isn't going to live through this war. But, the good news is that the Nazi aren't going to win this war. Now that made me smile!
But, I was awoken from my dream with Mother shaking my shoulder. I opened one eye to see what she wanted. She nudged me, making me look outside. I screamed. On the window, was a womans's face, inches away from mine. Suddenly, I noticed who it was and stopped yelling. It was Auntie Miriam. I smiled and high-fived her awaiting hand that was on the window. She laughed and took a step back.
"Come on, Stella sweetheart! Up you get! We'll be on our away back home if you don't get outside soon!" Mother Fopes said, standing up, stretching. I yawned, following her. I picked up my heavy bag and stepped onto the pavement, wind brushing againest my face. I couldn't even walk a yard; Auntie Miriam came crashing into me, sending my bags everywhere. I giggled.
Auntie Miriam hadn't changed in the last 8 months since I'd seen her. She had thick blond wavy hair that was always tied in a neat bun above her head. Her bubbly personality and her red cheeks could make anyone smile. Especially me. She was thin but not thin as in starved. She had small feet that were tiny compared to her big hands. She had delicate lips that were round and overly large. Miriam was the best auntie ever! Except for Mother Fopes, of course. However I don't count Mother Fopes as an Aunt anymore. She's my mother now.
"Woops! Sorry, Stella! I'll go fetch them for you" She said, giggling. I had forgotten how childish Auntie Miriam actually was. I watched her bound over to where my bags had landed and picked them up, beaming. I laughed at her expression. She smiled and wrinkled her nose. I looked at her, puzzled. She laughed, chucking her head back.
"Your expression! Boy, I've missed you two!" Miriam said, taking me and Mother's hands. She led us to her tiny cottage, miles and miles away from the local town. The cottage was limey green and had honey-suckle all along the doors and windows. How cosy, I thought. I smiled. Mother Fopes smiled. And Miriam must of saw us as she grinned.
"Beautiful place, isn't it? At night, you can see all of the fireflys fluttering and at the right time you can watch the sun rise and the sunset. It's an amazing experience. I'll have to show you some time!! It's great!" She said, while we were approaching the cottage in our wagon. Mother raised her eyebrows. Mother and Miriam had never really been the best of friends. Most sister's aren't! I nudged her, warning her that she should be kind to Auntie Miriam. She rolled her eyebrows, grinning at me. I laughed.
"Definetely! It's gorgeous!" I agreed. Miriam laughed.
"I know! It's a pleasure to live here! You'll love it here, Stella!" She said, happily. I nodded, taking my focus back to the house. The garden was more than amazing. Lavender was dotted around, here and there, and lillies seemed to take over most of the population of the garden. Lillies had always been Auntie Miriam's favourite flower. Roses were mine. I loved the way that they are always given as a present of Valentine's Day. Not like I'd ever got one.... I blushed at the thought. Uh Oh. Mother saw that!!
"What are you blushing at?" She asked, suspicous. I gulped.
"Er, nothing!" I said, my voice a little too high. Miriam laughed. I stared at her. Mother Fopes nodded and left me to think. Finally, we pulled up at the cottage. I jumped off, taking my heavy bags from Auntie Miriam. I ran up the steps and unlocked the door with the new key I had been given. The house was spotless. There wasn't a slash of mud to be seen. I gasped. The house was huge! I ran threw the halls, searching for the bedroom I had had last time I visited. It was exactly te same. The bright purple walls shone in the daylight, casting a beautiful shadow in the room. My teddy, which I had left by mistake last time, was in it's exact spot from where it had been left. The room had been left untouched. I smiled. Nothing had changed. Just how I liked it!
