Sam sat in her class, waiting for the students to come in, while preparimg for the class, today she'll give them assignments because college isn't complete without assignments.
Today felt like it was going abnormally slow, she'll look at the clock thinking almost 30 minutes would've passed but it'll be 5. That kind of day it was.
Soon the bell rang, and the students came swarming in the class, chatting loudly to each other.
"Everyone take your seats!" Sam said because many were just standing around, but after that everyone went to their seats as Sam got up to face them. The boys at the very last bench weren't even paying attention, and it was painfully obvious that they were using phones under the desk.
"Everyone!" She slammed her hand on the table, a few students jumped but the guys at the back lazily looked at her.
"Now. Today I will be giving you a assignment that you have to hand in 'til next monday." Everyone groaned at that, it made Sam think back to when she went to college.
"I know, but you have to do it if you want 40% of your grades." Everyone shut up and listened to her attentively. It was a lie, the assignment only held like 10% of their grade, but she had to get them to do it, one way or other.
She told them the topic and other important things about the assignment, before resuming her normal classes.
In the middle of her teaching, when she was turned to the white board, something hit her head. Her grip on the marker tightened as she turned to face the class, and caught that one guy in last seat smirking to his friends.
She took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"I am teaching you here. Do not disturb me." She threatened before turning back, to the white board. She started writing down the notes for the students but she was interrupted again, by a barking sound, it wasn't a dog, but a human.
"If any of you disturbed me one more time, I'll give the person detention for a week!" She said, not looking at the students, she already knew who this was.
The rest of the class went by somehow. The guy didn't really stop his misbehaving even after getting the warning directly.
"Mr. Brown, stay here, I need to talk to you." The said guy, rolled his eyes and stayed back as his friends gave him looks.
"What?" He asked, staring at Sam dead in the eyes, it kind of intimidated her but she won't admit it.
"I really don't appreciate you doing all those tricks in my class, you'll be getting a week of detention." Sam told him, signing the his detention slip.
"Look, Sam Flores." He said, emphasizing on her name. "You aren't that older than us, so I don't feel the need to respect you, leave me be if you want your college year to be bearable." Sam's eyes harden as she looked at her insolent student.
"Mr. Brown, my age doesn't concern you. You are supposed to respect me as a professor." Sam got up and got her stuff before handing the detention slip to the guy. "And you will do it." And she walked out of the class, leaving the student be.
