Standing at the far end of the living room, I followed my father's every move. He condescendingly judged every corner of the apartment without ever dwelling on it, as if he was disgusted by the mere sight of it. Fists clenched, trembling with rage, I had been restraining myself from jumping at his throat for several minutes. I had managed to send Seojun home without him asking any questions, reluctant to let them stay in the same room. The mere fact that they already knew each other bothered me profoundly. How is it possible? This question was running through my mind (like many others), but I refused to talk first. Seeing him, there, in my living room, was already unbearable. I didn't know what brought him here but it didn't predict anything good. This man was an ominous bird, sowing chaos wherever he went.

I dreaded what he was going to say or do, but by no means showed it.

"So you know Seojun.'' He told me, settling on the back of my couch.

His unruffled and authoritative eyes rested on me. Their weight strengthened my guard. Seeing my imperturbable demeanor, he couldn't hide his true feelings and looked a little upset. This two-face man...

''I've heard rumors... that you take more pills now... Is that true?''

I felt my heart speed up, nausea taking over my guts. I didn't answer though. It made him laugh. A dry, cold laugh that froze an evil grin on his smooth face.

''I wonder what is the reason...'' he whispered, menacing.

The panic that was starting to rise within me froze my body in place. I still tried to not lose face, refused to be weak in front of him. His gaze became sharper. I was running out of air with the atmosphere twisting slightly.

''I hope the reason wasn't him, uh?''

Seojun appeared in front of my eyes for a quick moment. The room began to spin in an infernal spiral. I wanted to escape but my feet were anchored on the ground. I was scared for sure but the urge to protect Seojun settled in my mind. I couldn't let my father do anything to him. I didn't want to let myself be dominated, not again. Never again. I promised myself years ago that I will never let this man control my life.

My lack of response made him loose patience. He got up from the sofa to plant himself in front of me. His aura grew bigger. He tried to suffocate me but I didn't back down.

He frowned, irritated at my demeanor, and cut in an icy voice, "Is he your nemesis?"

My mouth twitched as I tried hard to contain my rage. Despite my sweaty hands, my determination didn't diminish. I was ready to face him. I would not let myself down. He wasn't in a strong position, not here, not now. There was nothing that connected me to him anymore.

"What does it have anything to do with you?" I replied scathingly.

His face darkened, his jaw tightened. I felt my father's facade crumble and give way to his true personality, the one I knew all my life. It was like switching personalities reminded me of how dangerous he was. A man capable of anything to achieve his goal. He took a step forward, but my cold glare made him stop.

"I'm still your father whether you like it or not." He spat, "You're already sharing the genes of your mother. If you weaken yourself even more with an unnecessary tether, I better get involved."

An alarm blasted in my head. Danger flickered in my head. I felt my canines stick out and my eyes burn, certainly turning red. Surprise passed over his face as he saw my threatening posture, quickly mirroring my hostile expression.

"You don't run my life." My voice dropped an octave.

He let out a wry laugh. His shoulders began to shake like a giggle as his face continued to wear that same scary look. All my senses were on alert, ready to anticipate and fend off any movement.
