Chapter 5: Pancakes :)

Luke ^^ That's Luke at least to me :)

"Luke" My mom called for about the fourth time, I shake my head and look at her "Yeah?" she looks at me then back at the road. She drove me to practice because my dad needs my car for something he never said so I have to let him it's really nice having my own car I feel like I have more freedom but sucks sometimes. "what are you thinking about?" she asked. My mom always asks me these questions I know it's not normal or whatever but it's nice to talk about my problems without people judging me. My mom is a lawyer she is gone a lot, my dad is in the military, He mostly home sometimes he leaves for work. "Batya, I don't know I feel drawn to her, I know I shouldn't but I do," I say and I groan, I put my elbows on my knees and cover my face with my hands.

"Honey, I'm sure you won't feel this way in a couple of weeks just give it a time or you could get to know her better?" she says. I Shrug. she puts her hand on my shoulder and squeeze, "Remember, don't let people take up space in your head," she pauses " If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." I nod and smile "James 1:5" she nods and smiles.

She pulls into the parking lot of my school and she says, "God is Good all the time."

I smile and say, "And all the time, God is Good." I hug her and she whispers "Trust in God He never fails to disappoint." I smile and say " I know, Thank you see you on Monday?" She nods, "If you need anything just call and I love you." she smiles and I nod and smile back "Love you too" I got out and wave at her. I go inside and think it's hard to trust God sometimes like since we're humans but I know I would be nothing without him.

I go to the locker room. I feel a hand on my head shaking my hair and arms around my neck. "hey lukey, did you see who I danced with yesterday? At the party" I shook my head and push his hands off me and I run a hand through my hair "Who?"

"Paityn freaking summers the hottest girl in school." He says and grins ear to ear. I smile back dang he seems happy just to dance with her didn't kiss her or anything most of the guys on the team just treat girls like a game except John and me, I find it distracting. curious why he's so happy I say "Why are you so happy?" he frowns and looks at anything but my eyes he rubs the back of his neck with his hand, looking uncomfortable. He says "I like her, liked her for a while now just didn't know what to do with it." he shrugs, and points to his heart.

I stand there shocked John likes her, wow never did I thought one of the guys on the football team would have feelings for someone. It's not impossible the boys still are human but I'm not really really close to most to them.

"wow, john I didn't know you had it in you, you actually have feelings this is a miracle," I say and run my hand through my hair and smile. he frowns so I hug him and pat his back awkwardly but I do this on purpose I feel him relax and I pull back I smack his cheek while saying "I'm happy for you." he nods and smiles proudly "it probably won't go anywhere but what do you think I should do?"

I think for a moment "you should ask her on a date bro." He laughs bitterly "yeah right I'll get rejected hard." he says matter-factly. I gave him a knowing look. He rolls his eyes I start to get undressed and dressed In practice clothes. I break the silence "You never know until you try bro." He nods.

The practice was hard did a lot of drills and I worked my butt off. I like practice always helps me clear my head I'm grateful to God for giving me a body capable of pushing and not breaking. In the locker room after practice, Asher says "yo we're going to go eat at Fredy's a bunch of the popular kids are going, at 5:00 if you guys want to come but y'all are coming, no debate."
