Ch. 3

Percy's POV

Today is tryouts for cheerleading and football. Im obviously trying out for football.

While I was walking to the boys locker room, I saw a younger kid hiding in a corner. I went over to him and saw that he was sleeping. I shake him awake.

"Ugh. Dude what'd you do that for" he says rubbing his eyes and yawning. I observe that he has very dark circles under his eyes and is very pale.

"Well I saw you here and I figured I would wake you up. The names Percy, the new kid. Who are you?" I ask.

"Im new too. My names Nico." Nico says.

"Are you trying out for any sports this year?" I ask him.

He blushes a shade of pink. "I was gonna try out for... Cheer" he says embarrassed.

"Oh cool! Im trying out for football." I say.

"Oh"

"Well it was nice meeting you, but I have to go get ready for tryouts. And by the way, cheer tryouts are today too. Bye" I say.

When I was walking away I heard a girl's voice call, "Nico?!" And him replying, "Bianca Im over here!"

When I get to the locker room, I see a dirty-blond haired boy. He's not in any of my classes so I don't know who it is. That is until I heard someone call him 'Jake'. So I guess this is Annie's boyfriend.

After I get changed, I head outside. On my way there, I see Jake making out with another girl. I don't know if I should tell Annabeth though. She did want to break up with him, she said so yesterday.

I keep on walking and go to the football field. I look around and see the coach-Coach Hedge, Grover, Jason, Frank, Leo, Jake, and some other boys on the football field. Annabeth, her friends, Nico, and some other girls including that girl Jake was making out with, are on the sidelines. Im guessing thats where the cheerleaders try out.

ANNABETH's POV

I am currently at cheer tryouts and the only people that are good so far is Thalia, Hazel, Piper, Calypso, Reyna, Nico, Ava, Brooke, and Chelsea. And Im hoping I will be good, too.

"Next!" Coach Berry yells. Now, its my turn. Im not really nervous because I've been doing competitive cheer since I was about 7.

I go on the mats and do a little side line cheer just to lure her in. Then, I do a Toe-Touch, Pike Jump, Front Jump, Toe-Touch. Now Coach Berry is really interested. Next, I do a round off, back hand-spring, full (a back flip with strait legs while spinning). Now, even the football players are watching. Then, I do a running punch front tuck step out, round off, back hand-spring step out, back hand-spring, full. Finally, I do some flexibility trick things. This includes, splits, scorpions, needles, heel stretches, bow and arrows, scales, and arabesques. When I walk off, I hear a bunch of cheering and shouting. I guess thats a good sign.
