Ch. 1

Percy's POV

I just moved to San Francisco, California from New York. It was a big move. The reason I moved here with my mom was because her new boyfriend lives here. His name is Gabe, but I like calling him Smelly Gabe behind his back. We live in a good sized apartment with three bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. Pretty good if you ask me.

I start my Sophomore year (10th grade) at Pine High School tomorrow. I have no friends even though I have been here for a week. You'd think I would have met someone by now. In my old school, my best friend was Luke, but but I had a lot of other friends too. I was the most popular guy and girls were head-over-heels for me, but there was only one girl I liked. We were dating but we broke up because long distance relationships never worked. Her name was Rachel (Elizabeth) Dare. She had long, curly red hair with freckles across her nose. She had green eyes, just like me, and the brightest smile. She was very funny, outgoing, brave, and nice. We decided to still be friends even though we broke up. Im hoping I can find a girl just like her at my new school.

Annabeths POV

"I hear theres gonna be a new kid today" I tell my best friend Piper.

"Yeah I did too. I heard he's a guy. Hopefully he's hot" she replies.

"Yeah, Im running out of guys to date!" I joked. We both laughed. Everyone thinks I've dated every guy in the grade, but it's not true. I've been keeping track and there is 7 that I have dated and theres like, 150 guys in the grade and the same amount of girls.

The bell interrupted us warning us to get to homeroom. I was Mrs. Dodds for homeroom but Piper has Mr. McCay :( oh well. When we went our separate ways I saw a boy with black messy hair walk into the homeroom Im in. I wonder if he's the new kid. I got my stuff from my locker still wondering about New Kid and headed into class.

I was greeted by sea green eyes. He was hot. Wait-Annabeth you are not calling someone you don't even know hot. You are not that girl, Ava is. And Brooke. Not you.

"Hi" he said with a mischievous smirk on his face.

"H-hi, who are you?" I asked.

My stuttering made him smirk more. "Im Percy. Percy Jackson. Who are you?" He asked still with that smirk on his face.

"Annabeth. Annabeth Chase" I replied with the same smirk on my face. We had a little stare off until the teacher told everyone to take their seats.

*time lapse*

At lunch I sat with Piper, Hazel, Thalia, and Reyna. Piper is my best friend, but Hazel, Thalia, and Reyna are next in line. "He's pretty hot." Reyna said with her mouth full.

"Ewww!!! You just spit on me!!! Gross!!!!" Piper screamed while jumping up and down with a disgusted look on her face. That attracted a lot of attention, but we are used to it.

"Drama queen" Reyna muttered.

Ava and Brooke; and my friends and I are the two popular girl groups. We are rivals, but Ava and Brooke are the mean, annoying popular girls like the ones in movies. My friends and I are nicer and don't date that many guys. Actually, let me correct myself. I friends don't date that many, but I kinda do. I mean, I've already told you how many I've dated. Ava and Brooke have literally dated every single guy in the class. Like, theres a difference! Anyway...

"Guys, wanna have a pool party at my house on Friday!?" I asked.

"Yes!!" Hazel, Thalia, and Reyna yelled, while Piper was like, "YASSSSSS!!" Piper is the girliest out of all of us. Thalia is the most tom-boyish out of us.

Percy's POV

After homeroom, I met a couple guys. Jason, Frank, Leo, and Grover. I sat with them at lunch and we were all eating and talking happily until we heard screeching.

"Ewwww!!! You just spit on me!!! Gross!!!!" A girl sitting at Annie-beths table says.

"Thats Piper" Leo said. "This guy loves her" he continued pointing at Jason while making kissy faces. Everyone at our table was laughing while Jason's face was bright red.

"I do not!" Jason complained.

"Yeah-huh" leo said.

"Nuh-nuh" Jason argued.

I blocked out their bickering and looked at Annie's table. There were five girls there. A girl with short black hair and electric blue eyes; a short girl with cinnamon hair and darkish skin; a girl with dark brown hair and brown eyes; a girl with tan skin and brown hair- Piper; and then Annie girl with blond curly hair and gray eyes. I noticed that Annie said something and they all looked really excited. Then I got interrupted.

"Dude" Grover said.

"What?" I replied.

"Are you gonna finish that?"

I sighed and gave him the rest of my sub.
