Amelia had no memory of yesterday's incident. Mama and papa went out to discuss their property and our enrollment in school with the landlord, they wouldn't be back for an entire week. An entire week with the whole house to myself. It was the perfect night to have Mr. Forester and Tommy over. If mama and papa wouldn't let me get help, I'd have to get it myself. I dialed Mr. F's number. On the fourth ring, Tommy picked up the phone. "Lee?" "Yeah it's me, my parents are out today and I want you to come and check out the house." I said. "We'll be over at seven." He hung up the phone.

When seven o' clock came, I got my family in the living room, but that didn't stop Amelia from holding onto my shirt when I went to go and open the door. "Hey Aleece." Mr. Forester said as he helped tommy lug in all of his equipment. Tommy looked up and smiled at me. He placed all his stuff on the dining room table. After about two minutes he joined us in the living room. "This is my sister, Amelia," I said as I smoothed out her hair. "And this is my brother Ralphie." Tommy kneeled on the floor next to Ralphie, who was coloring a picture. "Who's that, Ralphie?" Ralphie gave the picture to tommy.
"It's the old man who stands at the edge of my bed at night." Being six years old, he didn't suspect anything of it. He just giggled. Tommy got up slowly. "Why don't we start?" He asked. I nodded at him. Me and tommy sat on a couch, across from Ralphie while Mr. Forester and Amelia went into a separate room. "Okay," Tommy said turning on the tape recorder. "Hi Ralphie." Ralph waved his hand and twiddled with his toy car. "So who's this old man who stands at the edge of your bed? What's his name?" "Tommy, do you want to meet him?" Ralphie asked. "Of course." Tommy replied. "Okay," Ralphie replied smiling. "He's standing right behind you." Tommy turned around and looked into the mirror, there was nothing. After a long silent pause, Mr. Forester ran into the living room. "Aleece," he called. "You gotta see this." I got up from the couch and followed Mr. F into the dining room where he was chatting with Amelia. "Amelia, tell Aleece what you told me." Amelia glanced over at the basement door. "We have a really funny neighbor. You know who I'm talking about Aleece." I didn't recall any funny neighbor. In fact, the house had no neighbors because it was in the back of the woods. "What's our neighbors name?" I asked. Amelia didn't answer the question, she just drummed the table with her chafed little fingers. "Who is the neighbor, tell me now." Amelia stood up, grabbed my hand, and walked towards the basement door. The faint sound of Mr. Foresters voice asking Tommy to follow me down the stairs was the last thing I could hear.

"Amelia, where's the light? It's dark in here." I asked. "The light doesn't work, so I use a flashlight." She picked up the little device on the last step and flicked it on. She handed it to me. "Look around, it's really cool." I heard giggling, and it made me want to panic. I walked towards the water heater and looked for the source of it. The sides of the water heater was lined with dusty, old furniture. My throat was dry, I felt completely crazy. Behind the water heater, there was a door. I slowly slid it open and stepped inside. The immediate first thought in my mind was that I shouldn't have. The door slammed shut and locked itself. I screamed I dropped the flashlight on the floor and the batteries fell out. I fell on my knees and struggled to put the batteries back in. I clicked the light on again. I shined around, ignoring the banging on the door. The banging stopped. "Pops!" Was the last word I heard from Tommy. I moves the flashlight around, and then dropped it in horror. "Tom.... Tom!" I threw my self against the door several times. I looked around again. The only weapon I could find was a pistol. I picked it up. It quivered in my hands, but it was my only hope. I blew out the lock on the door knob, and dropped the gun on the ground. I threw myself against the door again, and when it finally opened I fell out on top of it. I ran around all the furniture to the stairs. While I was running up the stairs, something pulled my ankle back. "That's Mrs. S, Aleece." Something grabbed my foot and tried to drag me back wards. Tommy was dragging Mr. F by the hand down the stairs. It sounded as if he was complaining, but he stopped once he saw me. Tommy jumped under the railing and off the steps. "Aleece!" He grabbed my hands and tried to pull me, but it was no use. He wrapped his fingers around my shoulders and pulled harder, and finally, the hand let go. I shot forward, back into Tommy's lap. I panted. "Where's Mrs. S?" Mr Forester asked Amelia. "In the closet." Amelia replied. Mr. Forester ran past me and tommy who were on the ground. Tommy sat me up straight. "What did you see?" He asked. I stuttered but Mr. F explained everything perfectly. the words he had spoke matched the ones I would've said. He pushed the furniture out of the way of the closet.

Inside the closet was a rotting corpse of a human being, hung on a rope.
