Now that the spirits were gone, we could live in the house.
I started school, and met new friends, and even my parents began to follow god once again.
Tommy had to leave. I was pretty bummed about that, but I knew that he had really helped us.
"Lee, I'm gonna miss you." He said, as he pushed all his equipment in the trunk. I tucked my hair behind my ear. "I'm gonna miss you too." He held my hand and walked over to the drivers seat. "Well I'll see you and your pretty smile at school, tomorrow." I laughed and watched him get in the car. Just as he was about to get on the road he called, "I love you!" "I love you too." I called back. A smile stuck to my face as he left the driveway. I felt someone place their hand on my shoulder. I flinched, but it was only mama. "I like him. Why don't you have him over for dinner one night?" I smiled and hugged her.
I got into bed that night, happy and felt a sense of safety that I hadn't felt since I had moved from Rome. This dumb town, was starting to look not so dumb after all.
I woke up that morning, with a big smile on my face. I showered and dressed for the day. As I walked down the stairs, I saw Mama and papa sitting at the kitchen counter sipping their coffee. "Hi mama." I said, shoving the last of my books into my back pack. "Hi Aleece. We're having some repairs done today." Probably all the windows and broken glass around the house.
The Torrington high school was huge. Back in Rome you had itty bitty schools, but this was so different. I didn't know how I would find my classes.
When you walk in you see the main office and a log narrow hallway. Then there's two other hallways you could go down. The walls were covered with bulletin boards, and papers and all this junk.
I was taking accelerated classes, so Tommy was in a couple of them with me. We had the same language arts, math and science class.
First stop was home room, Mr. Reagan's class. Mr. R taught accelerated math. He seemed friendly.
It took him a couple seconds for him to notice I was standing there. "Hello." He said closing the book he was reading from. "You must be Aleece." He smiled. I nodded at him. "Why darling, we'll get you situated. Just go sit down." He said. It was intimidating, I didn't know where to sit. I just sat in the first open seat I saw, next to this really gorgeous girl. She had really long, curly black hair, and bright green eyes.
"Psss," she whispered. I looked over and she pushed a white slip of paper onto my desk. I opened the slip of paper. "Hi, I'm heather. What's your name?" I wrote "Aleece" in pen, and handed it back to her.
After class, Heather approached me. She had a raspy voice. "Hey, Aleece?" I looked up from the books I was putting in my locker. "Are you Tommy's Aleece?" Tommy's Aleece? That was a weird way of putting it. But I guess I was. "Yeah." I replied. "Oh, he talks about you all the time."
Well with the demon gone. I guess things just got better and better.
Or so I thought.
