Looking around, you finally spotted the parlor that you needed to go to. After your mother's death, you have to make sure that she has a proper coffin. Slipping in, you peeked around the dim room. Finding a wide range of coffins and strong smelling candles.
"Hello, Mr. Undertaker?" You called not seeing anyone among the coffins. Due to you manners, you didn't want to just walk around. Sitting in a seat, you pulled a pen from your bag and started doodling on your hand. It's one of your habits you have when you're bored. Your father doesn't approve, but since you mostly wear gloves, he doesn't always know. Drawing a rose design with the vines wrapping around your wrist, you went tense when the door opened by a chuckling man. Quickly slipping your glove back on, you turned to him as politely as you could.
"Oh dear, did I forget to lock the shop?" He hummed, studying you, " A little alive for one of my coffins aren't you?"
"I'm here for a coffin for my mother." You explained earning a frown from him.
"I see. Such a tragedy, to loose a mother. Right this way dear." He beckoned you with a hand, that you noticed had faint black markings on them, "Beautiful isn't it?"
Snapping your eye to his partly covered face, you noticed him grinning at you.
"I didn't mean to stare." You started to apologize, but he waved you off.
"It's nothing to be sorry for. In fact, I quiet enjoy it when people look at the designs." He explained holding his hand out to you, "Believe it or not I did not draw these. My soulmate did. They're very good aren't they?"
Examining the designs more, you felt your breath catch in your throat when you realized that they were what you just drew on your own hand. Surely it was a coincidence. Nodding, you followed him to the back where he had more coffins.
"Pick which ever you think will be the best for your mother. A person only gets buried once after all." Glancing over at him for a brief second, you wondered how you could find out more about this soulmate thing. You hadn't heard about it before and you never asked your parents about love, because you knew they were in a forced marriage. Choosing the highest quality coffin, you turned to him.
"This one please." You moved out of the way as he moved it to the front, "So, what is this soulmate marking?""It's not really a marking per say. My soulmate tends to be very creative and draws on their skin. It appears on my skin in these wonderful patterns." He explained, "I've never meet them, but with each design I've found that I understand them better than most of my clients. Each design leaves me mesmerized that it nearly distracts me from my work. I proudly show them to those who ask. Meeting them will be an amazing day for me."
"Why haven't I heard of this?" You questioned earning a sigh from him.
"Most nobility are forced into marriages so they are careful to not let their children know of of this soulmate bond." He explained before grinning, "Why all the questions? Has this peeked your interest?"
"Yes, in a way." You hummed, "Um, how much do I owe you for the coffin?"
"However much you think. I'm not particularly picky about prices."
Nodding, you handed him a bag of gold coins, then held your hand out to shake his. Earning a light giggle from him, that you didn't understand.
"Since when did nobility shake on deals with gloves on?" He questioned, making you tense. He's correct on that. Biting your tongue, you took your glove off and shook his hand. However, he paused to turn your hand up so he could see your drawing. Bracing for what he would say, you calmed down when he grinned.
"Well, isn't this interesting." He giggled, "Tell me, Darling , what is the name of my beloved soulmate?"
Feeling your face flush, you smiled a little, "(Y/N)"
