The burning feeling in your nose is what alerted you that something was wrong. It was smoke, but stronger than a regular fireplace smoke. Hurrying to the closest window, you gasped at the sight of most of England in flames. You have to tell Agni and Soma.

Racing out of the kitchen, you skittered to a stop when you nearly ran into them. Both seeming relieved to see you.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Soma asked, briefly giving you a hug, before he started pulling you down the manor halls.

"I'm fine. Has the fire reached here yet?" You questioned looking to Agni for answers since he was the most calm of the two, unsurprisingly.

"No, but it is very close." He reported as the three of you made it to the streets. All around people were screaming and running. Even though the fire was a little ways off, you could still feel its heat from here.

"The fire isn't near the edge of the city. That's probably the safest place to be." You planned out. Only to hesitate when you tuned in on a woman's pleading screams for her kids. Glancing around, you spotted her by a building. You faintly recognized her as the baker's wife.

"Agni, get Soma out of here." You ordered, "I'll catch up as soon as I can."

"(Y/N), don't." Soma pleaded, but you were already running down the street as fast as you could. Managing to reach her, much to her obvious relief.

"Ms. (Y/N), my kids are stuck in there." She yelled over the people.

Peering through the fire, into the alleyway, you spotted a little girl huddled by a crate. She was hanging onto a bundle of blankets.

"Get back." You ordered her, using your coat to make a brief path through the fire. Jumping through, you covered your mouth and nose, for at least some protection against the smoke.

Beckoning the girl closer, you picked her up, when she was in arms reach. Finding that the blankets she had were actually wrapped around a baby. This was not how you pictured your night going, but who could prevent this? Looking for a way out, you got an idea when you saw the pile of crates. It's a stupid idea, but it's better than burning to death. Kicking the crates over, you used them like a bridge over the fire, before landing on the sidewalk. Only getting a little burnt on your legs. At least you made it out alive with the girls.

"(Y/N), what were you thinking!" Blinking at the angry Soma, you motioned to the kids in your arms, like they were an obvious answer, "You should never run in a fire. You could have died."

"I had to for her kids." You defended, handing the kids to their mother.

"Thank you (Y/N)." She sobbed, "Thank you so much."

You were about to tell her where to go, when Soma started running, dragging you with him.

There was no time for lectures or arguing. Both of you ran back towards safety where you saw Agni running back towards you. So, there might be time for one argument.

"I told you to take him to safety." You snapped, earning a sheepish smile from the older man.

"I couldn't hold him." He defended, "The strength of a man in love can be stronger than the gods. That shouldn't be a surprise."

Shifting your eyes to Soma, you noticed that his face was turning a little red as he pouted. Sure you two had been together for a while, but you didn't know he loved you. Finally, reaching the forest on the edge of town, you slowed down. All around there were people crying or searching for lost family. Things won't truly settle down until the fire does.

"My Prince, (Y/N), please rest here." Agni motioned to a tree, that wasn't completely surrounded. Doing as he said, you sighed in relief, when you sat down. Soma sitting next to you and hooking an arm around you. From here, you could watch the fire spread with no danger of getting caught in it again.

"Agni, she is burning up. Find something to cool them." You faintly heard Soma order.

"Yes, my prince." Agni bowed, leaving. Now that you were calming down, you decided that it would be a good idea to start planning.

"Our home is being destroyed." You sighed, leaning against him, "Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?"

"The manor, can always be rebuilt, if it was destroyed," He assure you, " It is a building and can be replaced, unlike people. We are going to be okay."

Watching him, you were surprised. He always acted more like a child in your relationship, but he's more mature than he let on. Somehow it put you at ease, like you could believe him, when he says that.

"(Y/N), you shouldn't run into fire like that." He lectured, "Even a child knows not to do that. You should have got me or Agni to save them."

"I didn't want anything to happen to you and I figured Agni was going to take you to safety." You pouted, "Did you really manage to escape him to get me?"

"Of course." he grinned proudly, "You were in danger and not even the right hand of Kali would keep me from saving you."

"As we learned tonight." Agni chuckled, "I got a rag wet from a near by stream. It's the best we can do, until we go back to the city."

"Thank you." You sighed pressing it to your head.

"Both of you get some rest. I will keep watch and wake you when it's safe to go back."

Of course he would be the one to do that. It doesn't bother you though since you were pretty tired from running and saving those kids. Noticing that Soma was leaning on you more, you glanced at him to see that he was already asleep. Smiling, you relaxed against him and watched the fire burning the city. It's soft light from this distance and Soma's warmth next to you lulling you to sleep.
