Addicted To Lying

I woke up the next day and got ready for the awful day ahead of me. It's school so who's really going to try and look good? I have to somewhat try though; Chase is at school. I don't want him to think he's dating a hobo. I went into my closet and picked one of my All Time Low t-shirts and high waisted shorts. I placed my hair in a bun, and grabbed my black converse.  I looked somewhat decent. At least no one will run away when they see me so that's a good start. After being satisfied with my look I ran downstairs to grab a bite to eat.

"Hey honey, you ready for school? I left your breakfast on the table." my mother said.

"Ha sure. Of course I'm ready." I responded as I kissed my mom on the cheek and started eating my pancakes.

My mom kissed my cheek and heading out the door. I decided to finish off my breakfast and washed the dishes that were already on the sink. Once I finished, I headed out the door right on time for my ride to get here.

I hopped into the front seat and greeted all my friends that were already in the car.

"Damn about time Les. I was about to drive away. You can't keep us waiting here forever." Zoey, my best friend said.

"Yeah well we both know that you would use any excuse just to get out of school. I wouldn't be surprised if you actually did  'wait' forever for me." I replied.

"Oh shut up smart-ass. Okay maybe you're right. Now, let's go to school shall we?" She responded with fake enthusiasm.

"Do you guys remember that cute guy at the movies on Saturday?" my other friend Ashley barged in.

" OH MY GOSH YES. HE WAS HOT!"

"Dude he wasn't hot; he was smokin' "

" Are you kidding me? I almost had an org*sm!"

Those are the response Ashley got from the girls. Typical really.

"That guy was so hot. I literally thought I would melt. " Zoey said.

"Oh my gosh guys! Seriously! Come on..... he couldn't have been that hot." I stated.

"Um honey, if you were with us you would be saying the same thing." Eva, my other friend replied.

"Wait,  where were you Leslie? We called you to go come along with us but you didn't answer your phone. We even went to your house but your mom said you left a long time ago." Zoey questioned.

My face paled and went into shock for a brief second. I coughed inwardly to try and distract them in hoping that they hadn't notice. What lie was I going to tell? Again?

Don't get me wrong, I hate lying to my friends. Absolutely hate it. But what was I supposed to say? "Oh yeah the reason was because I was hanging with my popular long term boyfriend that you happen to like. I just can't talk about it because I'm trying to hide it from everyone including you guys." Yeah, not going to happen.

"Oh sorry guys. I truly am. I went to the library to pick out new books and I lost track of time." I said with confidence.

"Oh course. How did we not think of checking the library?" Zoey replied and got a nod from the girls.

I forced a smile as I looked at them.

"Anyways, lets just get this hellhole over with shall we?" Eva questioned.

"Mm"

"Amen"

"If we must."

During the remainder of the ride, I kept thinking what would happen if they ever find out. Let's hope it never comes down to it.
