Chapter 9
Cali Woods
"Bye you two!" Lily yelled at us from Daniel's SUV.
Cody waved at them from beside me and smiled as I awkwardly stood next to him. Cody dropped his hand as Daniel drove off with a smiling Lily in front. I was proud of Lily, for finding someone who treated her right.
Cody tore me from my thoughts by clearing his throat, "You look really gorgeous tonight."
I blushed at his compliment and couldn't help but think of the way Dante talked to me at the party.
Ciao bella.
My heart fluttered at the memory.
"Thank you. Lily picked this dress out for me a long time ago." I said, admiring the dress. My thoughts drifting off to Dante and what he might think of me in this dress.
Cody smirked as he took my whole figure in. I shifted under his heated gaze and fidgeted with my clutch, "Well, she knows what you look good in," Cody grabbed his keys from his pocket and unlocked his door, "I'll see you soon?"I nodded my head and stood in front of the side-walk hopelessly. Being my stupid self I figured that this place would be packed, because it always is, so I parked behind the restaurant, after spotting Lily's car back there. That, unfortunately, means walking through an alleyway to get there.
Within a blink of an eye Cody was in his car and speeding off. Without another look in my direction or so much of a 'Do you need me to take you to your car? Like a gentleman?'
I huffed as I crossed my arms over my chest. I stared at the dark alleyway, cringing as I realized how dark it was. Why can't people just have one light in the alleyway? It could be useful.
I grabbed my phone and turned on the built-in flashlight, shining at my feet to make sure I didn't step in a hole...or on a rat.
The alleyway's air seemed to be colder as I got farther into it. The bricks were giving the alleyway a vintage look, making it look like the buildings would fall down at any time.
Something skidded in front of me, breaking the light of my flashlight. If I was at any other place I'd figured it was a rat or birdrunning. But, an eery feeling followed the movement and I paused, shining the flashlight up.
I screamed at the two faces standing in front of me. I nearly dropped my phone when I saw them, which would cause me to be in greater danger. I turned and took off running-away from the two men. Footsteps followed me, causing me to cry out and push a little harder in my heels. Fortunately for me I was an athlete in high school and was used to the challenges. However, I never practiced running from muggers.
A scratchy voice called out after me, "Where you going pretty lady?"
I fell as I pair of arms reached out and shoved me. My knees scraped against the concrete and my hands were barley fast enough to brace myself on the floor and protect my head. Not because of what it would look like, but because of the possibility of knocking myself out.
Four hands latched onto my body, grabbing at my skin and my dress. My hand bag had landed on the ground, and I had fallen on it when I was pushed. Hopefully they didn't see it in my hands earlier.
As the two men groped me and searched for any valuables I found myself struggling for a breath. I had suffered from anxiety attacks when I was fifteen and sixteen because of the stress of being new to high school. All the symptoms of a panic attack was happening to me now.
My tears blurred my vision and I couldn't see ahead of me. I couldn't scream out due to me searching for a breath and my arms were hurt from the fall.
