Chapter 12

Cali Woods

I turned away after Dante's black car disappeared from sight. I walked up to my apartment building, butterflies dancing in my stomach at the memory of last night.

My good mood was faltered as my building neighbor peeked her head out of her room. He gray hair was flailing around her face, the draft from her fan going around in her room. Her apartment was right below mine and I could hear the old fan turning every night-I was surprised it hadn't flung of its hinges yet.

Her green eyes searched the hallway, as if looking for anyone, even though we were the only two living in the building.

She looked back at me and squinted her eyes, "That boy better calm down his engine. I could hear his car from a mile away." I found that hard to believe because I could barley hear her due to the fan, her ten cats, and the blaring tv.

"I'm sorry Ms. Stone. I'll make sure he stays more quite." I bowed a little at her and began climbing the stairs to my door, I only had about five minutes.

Ms. Stone snorted, "I'd rather he never came back." And with that she slammed her door and left me alone to my confused thoughts.

She had never liked me much.

I jogged the rest of the way to my door, grabbing my key out of my pocket. It felt odd because I was always used to my car keys in my pocket, I'd have to ask Lily for a ride later to Angel's Italian.

I quickly unlocked my door and grabbed my bag from the coat hanger. I spotted a pair of leggings bawled up on the floor near the coach that I had worn after my early morning jog the other day. I quickly ran to them and took off Dante's overly huge sweats, pulling my black leggings up.

I ran to my room and grabbed a pair of tennis shoes. I couldn't find a clean decent shirt to wear so I decided on keeping his shirt on, plus, it smelt like him.

I swung my back-pack on my back and jogged to my door. Locking it and shutting it behind me.

Two more minutes.

I jogged the one-hundred yards to my science building. I saw a boy in the distance running to the doors. He tripped and skidded across his knees on the side-walk. I covered my mouth in shock and ran over to him, bending down next to him, "Are you okay?"

The strawberry blonde haired boy lifted his head up, squinting at the sun that was above my head, "Yeah, I guess." His cheeks flushed a bright red.

"I saw you running and fell, are you hurt? Bleeding?"

I frantically looked over his body but kept my hands to myself-I didn't know this guy.

"Nah, probably just scraped up my knees," he chuckled and sat up on his butt, "Guess I ran for nothing. I'm late anyways."

I outstretched my hands towards him, "Here," He grabbed a hold of them and I lifted him up the best I could-what is up with every guy being packed with muscle, not that I was complaining though, "We have twenty seconds left, we can make it past the door!"

I took off in a jog up the stairs causing a laugh from the Blondie behind me, his blue eyes twinkled as he ran up behind me, "Watch where you step! Stuff out here will try and get ya."

I laughed and opened the door to my biology class, every head shot towards me and I looked down at my watch.

Two seconds left.

The bell rang as soon as the boy that tripped slightly nudged me out of the way and hopped in class. He made a dramatic sigh and wiped fake sweat off his brow.
