Chapter 2

CHAPTER 2: HIS NIGHTMARE

Emma's POV

"Emma, as I said, I love you all. That's why...

...tomorrow, will be your shipment." Mama said.

D-did she really said it? Am I hearing it right?

Norman suddenly moves hysterically as he tried to escape from Mama's hand. I couldn't see his face, but I can hear that he's crying. He tries to reach his hand to me. "E-Emma..." he slowly said.

Ray, aggressively removes Don's arm and runs to Mama. "Why are you doing this? We're not doing anything on you!" Ray pushes Mama but it seems that his punches don't hurt Mama at all. Don runs and tries to stop him. "Ray, calm down!" Don tries to stop Ray, even if he's crying himself.

Gilda hugs me and cried on my shoulder. "Emma... please n-no..." 

Me...

Me? I am getting shipped??

Mama puts Norman down on the ground and walks at me. She gets her scissors from her pocket and cuts the rope we made. 

After getting the ropes, she lifts Norman again and looked at every one of us.

"You will understand why I am doing this. Someday, you will thank me for what I did, my children." Mama looked at us with a clear expression and starts walking away again.

After that, everything sinks in on my mind. I suddenly felt my body fall down on my knees. My hands are shaking, and my tears can't stop falling.

"I will be s-shipped--" 

"NO!" Ray shouted and runs in front of me. "No one's gonna be shipped!" Ray stated.

"I agree. We won't let Emma be shipped." I leaned on Gilda who suddenly talks and stands up to me.

"Me, too. Don't worry, Emma. We'll make a plan to save you." Don assuringly said.

I looked at their faces. Tears are falling, but their expressions are tough and assuring. They are really willing to save me. I am really thankful to have a family like them.

"Thank you, everyone..."

Norman's POV

My thoughts are blank. I can't even think about anything. All I've been thinking is to save Emma. Emma is getting ship?! I won't let them do that.

"Emma? W-where are you going?" I saw Emma's back figure. She's wearing the same dress as our siblings had when they were shipped. N-no... w-where is she going?

"Wait, Emma!!!" I tried my best to walk fast with a crutch even if it is hard and painful. I need to follow her. 

"Emma!!! Please!!" I can't help but cry while I'm trying to reach her. She's walking too fast and it seems like she didn't hear me. 

"You can't... You can't do this." No... this is not happening. There's still time for her to escape. I won't let her go.

Before I could reach her, she finally stopped. "Emma, please don't go!!" It was the door. She's now in front of it. 

This made my chance to catch her. As I tried to walk multiple steps, she slowly looked behind me with a smile. Her sudden move made me stop. She's smiling like everything's fine. But it's not! It's never been okay!

"Norman, please take care of everyone. Okay? Don't worry, I'll be fine." she said energetically.

"No, it's not! Please stay! We can make a plan for this. I won't let you do this!" I angrily said. I continued walking again to reach her, but she proceeds on opening the door.

"No! Please!!!" I tried to run even though I already can't feel my legs. Emma walks outside the door and reaches the doorknob.

"Goodbye, Norman." Emma waved at me as she slowly closed the door. I'm already near the door. I can still reach her.

Just a few steps. Please wait for me...

But.

No. The door is now completely closed. 

She didn't wait for me.

"EMMAAAA!!"   

....

"Norman?!" I quickly get up and gasp for air as I look around my surroundings. I'm at the infirmary?? I am sitting on a bed and Emma is--

"Are you okay, Nor-" I quickly hugged Emma before she could speak. 

"Thank goodness it was just a nightmare!" I cried out. I hugged her tightly. I couldn't stop myself from crying. I am really relieved.

But wait, why am I on the infirmary?

I suddenly recalled what happened earlier as I felt the pain in my leg. I released myself from the hug and stared at Emma with a questioning look. She is smiling at me but something was wrong. Her eyes were... sad.

I haven't got an answer so it made me more anxious. I slowly removed the blanket to see my leg. I tried to remain calm, even though my hands are shaking.

I see this coming, but it still shocked me. M-my leg was b-broken... then that means...

"E-Emma, my leg was broken but... you're n-not going to be s-shipped right??" Emma astonishingly looked at me. Her expression suddenly changed, but it quickly back on her smiling.

"I-it was just a nightmare, r-right? It's not true, r-right?" I am now panicking. I knew it! Something's wrong. But I really hope that it is not about shipment. Just, please...

"Norman, drink this. Also, you still need a rest. Let's talk about it later." Emma said as she offered the water on the table.  I got the glass but I immediately dropped it. The glass shattered its shards on the ground, like my hope that no one is going to be shipped.

"Nor--"

"Emma please tell me!!!" I already knew it, but I need to hear it. Part of me doesn't want to believe it. It might just a wrong decipher. It might not be true!

Emma slowly kneeled down and cried.

"I'm sorry..." 

Tears continuously flowed in my eyes. I couldn't handle this. I tried to move down the bed and hugged her.
