**(Katie's POV)**
"Will this really work?" I asked doubtfully. We were in Autumn's room, which was extremely familiar to Taylor and I since we had stayed here countless times. I looked over at Taylor who looked a little sick. The room was empty without Autumn.
"Maybe if you shut up and let me concentrate," Paige snapped, going around the room with her eyes closed and breathing in deeply.
I pressed my lips together and rubbed my arms. It was cold in here.
"What exactly is she trying to do again?" Taylor whispered.
"Be Lassie," I whispered back. Taylor snickered.
"Hey! I can hear much better than you and you're not exactly a good whisperer. Shut. Up. And I wouldn't talk about me, Witch Girl, if you know what's good for you," Paige hissed, giving me a death glare.
She turned to Taylor. "I'm trying to find her trail. Her scent. I will be able to follow it and maybe find her."
Taylor nodded, her eyes wide. Paige went back to being a bloodhound. I squeezed Taylor's arm, sending her a mental message not to be scared. She squeezed my arm back just as hard.
Paige picked up one of Autumn's worn shirts and took a big whiff of it.
"Okay. Now that's just creepy," I said, wrinkling my nose.
Paige glared at me. "Do you want my help or not?!"
I held up my hands, showing I was done. Paige went back to sniffing and I stuck my tongue out at Taylor and rolled my eyes. She covered her mouth while smiling.
"I think I found it," Paige said, her eyes still closed. I knew she was referring to Autumn's trail.
"Follow it. We'll follow you," I said, getting serious. She nodded.
She walked towards the window, us following. She stopped in front of it. First touching the glass lightly, she slowly slid the window open.
Before I was even able to comprehend what was going on, Paige gracefully jumped out the window.
We were on the second floor.
Taylor and I rushed to the window, looking out just in time to see Paige land in a crouched position, her fingers on her right hand brushing the ground.
"Whoa," Taylor breathed from beside me. Paige looked up, her eyes glowing yellow.
I swallowed, thinking of when Brian's eyes had glowed yellow.
"Are you guys coming or not?" Paige called, standing up and brushing herself off. Her eyes were their normal grey again.
"Yeah...I'll just go out the front door," Taylor said, running out of the room.
I stared down at the ground. Before I even realized what I was doing, I perched myself on the ledge of the window.
Paige looked up at me. "Don't be stupid, Witch Girl! Go out the front door!"
I ignored her, focusing on the ground. I was tired of being scared of her. I was tired of being told what to do. I was tired of....
Being me.
I jumped from the window, manipulating the air with my magic so I landed softly on my feet. Once firmly on the ground, I fixed my scattered hair and clothes and met Taylor and Paige's gaze.
"What?" I asked, a little too sharply.
"You just earned a little respect. Don't lose it," Paige said, turning away from me and starting towards the woods by Autumn's house.
I rose one eyebrow at her retreating back, but shrugged and followed her, dragging Taylor with me.
It was late evening, starting to get dark. The path we were taking was getting colder and colder, and I didn't like it. The underbrush grabbed at our feet, wanting to entangle us. The trees loomed ominously above us, making a canopy of green leaves. It was summer. Why was it so cold?
"Katie...does this seem...familiar to you?" Taylor asked, playing with her fingers as she glanced around nervously.
I looked around, at the path of dirt under my feet, the trees- What was that tied to the tree?
I went up to a tall oak where something pink was fluttering in the breeze. I touched it. It was a piece of gauzy, pink cloth. I remembered when Brooke put it there.
Taylor came up and touched it also, closing her eyes. I knew what she was feeling. Memories.
"What is it?" Paige asked, coming up beside us.
"Taylor, Autumn, Brooke, and I used to play here as kids. Brooke put this here when we were young," I whispered.
Paige was silent for a moment. "Well, story time over. Let's go."
I gritted my teeth, but didn't say anything. At least she was helping us.
Then it dawned on me.
"I know where she went," I said, pushing past Paige.
"What? Where?" Taylor called, jogging up to me.
Paige stayed by my left, looking at me for an answer, as did Taylor. I took a deep breath, cracking my knuckles nervously.
"The willow tree."
**(Brian's POV)**
"No."
"It wasn't a question, newbie. I can say it again and you'll have to do it," Liam growled, getting close to my face.
His eyes were coal black, full of hate and power. Liam was the Alpha. I was currently going through Phase One of initiation.
"I can't shift on command," I said, sharply.
"The twins did it. They didn't have a problem. Are you going to let girls beat you? Or are you going to be a man?" He rose one eyebrow.
I clenched my jaw, closing my eyes and looking for the monster within me. I could feel it, I just couldn't take control of it.
After a few more tries, I opened my eyes. "I can't."
Liam sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "You leave me no choice," He muttered.
"You're too weak, aren't you? Your just a little pussy. That's why your girlfriend doesn't want you, right? Because you're not a real man?" Liam said. He pushed me back.
I gritted my teeth, my anger rising. "Stop."
He pushed me again. "Shift! NOW!" He yelled, his eyes glowing yellow.
My anger flooded over me, my eyes pulsing and my veins hot with adrenaline.
"I said STOP!" I growled, launching myself at him. Two guys appeared out of nowhere and held me back.
A shudder went through my whole body and I let out a snarl. My body convulsed and my back arched.
My spine snapped with a crack.
Pain was the only thing I felt as heat poured over me. I dropped to my knees, shaking my head. Another growl escaped me as my regular thoughts ran together and turned to mush.
The wolf was controlling me.
Everything went black.
