Padraig lands back in Dublin, the capital city.
He switches his mobile on, thinking about the gazillion of notifications he's about to receive. His phone was off the whole day yesterday.
There are plenty of missed calls and texts but something's strange.
Not a single text and not a single missed call from home!!!
There is a missed call from the neighbour, Keith.
'Something's wrong, I should call back Keith and check if everything at home alright'
Padraig, slightly uneased, rings back Keith.
'Hello, Keith. How are ye?'Hello, Padraig. I am grand, thanks to your kids. How are you?
Thanks to my kids? I haven't heard anything from them since yesterday. Is everything alright?
Well, long story short. I fell in the river while trying to paddle across and your kids Riley, Mark, and Coco, along with her friends got me back to the bank, otherwise, I would have been, ......
Keith's words shook Padraig. Reassuring himself,
'Ahh, Keith. Thank God, you are well., I will call you back, I am on my way back to the town, I will meet you in few hours.
Padraig picks up the phone and rings Annitta.
'Hey, is everything alright?'
'Hello, yeah all is well. Sorry, I forgot to call you, are you coming home?'
'Yeah, I am on my way home, I am in Dublin, how're kids?'
'Don't you worry, they are fine, they just had lunch and are asleep'
'Asleep, at this time?'
'Yeah, they are.'
Annitta tells Padraig the series of events that happened in the morning.
'Alright, you take care. I am about to take a taxi, you had lunch?' Asks Padraig.
'I am having it now, made something for ye as well, sorry that I didn't call you earlier'
That's okay, my phone went off as well.
Overwhelmed by the news, Padraig starts his journey back to Oughterard.
Well, the news is everywhere, it made it to the newspapers too.
Padraig was actually coming from an investors meeting where he pitched his business model to some of the biggest investors in Europe.
And before he even reach his home, tons of texts and calls bombard Padraig's phone.
And one of them is from Aine, Padraig's dear friend who was also his business partner.
Her voicemail was the one Padraig could have never dreamt of And it went like,
Hey Padraig, man did you get to know what happened yesterday. I just spoke to Annitta, glad everyone is safe and by the way great news, I was with Mary by the time we got to know about the incident on TV. And Mary wants to meet your family tomorrow and she is willing to sign a humongous cheque for us.
After knowing what his kids did the other day, it's another great news for him.
Straightaway, he picks up the phone and calls back Aine',
Oh my god Aine', is it for real. Is Mary investing in our business? I can't believe it, I think our family will be coming out of all of our past debacles with this one. Are you sure, does Mary want to meet us?
Yeah man, we are on our way to a local business summit and we will be in Oughterard tomorrow. Mary wants to initiate the process from Oughterard itself. Congratulations to us! I will call you later, see you and convey my love to the family.
4:15 pm, and Padraig reaches home! The kids are sleeping. Annitta is on phone, replying to all the texts, dms and well wishers.
Padraig goes into the kids' room, kisses Riley on the forehead, gently runs his fingers through Mark's blonde hair feeling proud of his kids.
Annitta walks in and asks if he's fine?
Hmm.
"You know what happened today?"
What happenned? Asks Annitta.
I have got a call from Aine, and one of the most respected investors in the Europe's business circuit congratulated me for having the best kids and said she'll invest in our business and said, she wants to meet the kids.
Wow, you deserve it love!!
Annitta hugs Padraig.
By the way, did you bring Christmas presents?
Well, yes honey. How can I forget it.
