Another year, Another challenge.
The artistic golden sun got up like a baby and started painting the dark black sky into a bright blue sky.
As she saw her own reflection, she stretched out of her bed and walked through her bathroom door, her cold and pale hands reached out for the heater of her shower and made her whole bathroom steaming.
A hot shower widens ups, my soul, highschool needs a lot of courage to keep moving. She said to her mind as the water drips down to her body.
Her phone started buzzing on the top of her bathroom sink disturbing the music she was playing. She rubbed her eyes to take off the dripping bubble from her head and stamped her feet out of the shower to reach out for her phone with her wet hands.
"What?!" A hint of irritation got out of her mouth.
"You're up early this year." The girl laughed from the other line. "Making few life changes?"
"Calliope!" Her voice echoed in the bathroom, "I'm taking a fucking shower mind your own business. God, it's already past six!" She exclaimed.
"Come on Azriella! The day hasn't even started yet those words are already coming out of your mouth?" She sighs from the other line. "Can't you just appreciate the concern? Whatever, just receive the same embarrassment you've gotten the past three years just because of your sloppiness."
"Eli--" it was the shortened name, Azriella gave her. "I'll be getting the same embarrassment you're talking about-- if you keep talking to me and stopping me from finishing my routine!" Azriella grunts.
"Okay okay." The girl laughed from the other line, "I'll pick you up at 7:30."
She rolled her eyes as she placed her wet phone on the sink and went back to finish her shower.
"Fuck!" She groans as she hit her head under the table, "Where is that damn glasses?!"
She continues searching while combing her hair with her fingertips. She threw her pillows and saw them lying under her sheets. She grabbed her necktie and shoes before sprinting down the stairs. A typical chaotic day for her.
"Good morning my Unica Ija! Fuel up, so you're not all grumpy on your first day back."
"Is Eli coming?" Her mom asked.
"She is mom, but she'll just pick me up at 7:30." She responded and took her spoon from her plate to start eating.
"Watch your motions Azriella!" Her mom scolds her, slowing her down from fast swallowing.
"Baby, do not pressure yourself too much, okay? I do not care about your grades; I need you to enjoy your last year of high school life. You will experience that once— once baby. Okay?"
"Yes, Mom you tell me this every year." She grunts.
Their conversation terminated as someone aggressively knocked on their door. Azriella was about to stand up as she wipes the stain on her lips with a napkin but her mother stopped her.
"Hola mi amiga..." Calliope's loud greet faded as she realized it was not her friend, "Mrs. Montgomery, good morning." Her eyes disappeared as she smiled.
"Good morning darling, come inside and have breakfast." She stepped aside giving her a way to walk into.
At the moment Calliope stepped in, her eyes searched for Azriella. "Actually, we are gonna be late so we have to go." Pointing out the door.
"You should go, I can take care of this." Her mom patted her head and kissed her cheeks.
"But I'm not yet fi--" Her sentence got interrupted.
"It's 7 o'clock, darling."
She nodded in response and went on her way to get her things.
"Fix your necktie!" Her mom shouted.
"Yes Mom, I love you." Azriella grabbed Calliope's wrist away from the door.
"Thank you Mrs. Montgomery!" Calliope waved her hand as she was towed away.
Fresh windy cool and crispy air started whistling like an invisible ghost. The blue, yellow, and green in color birds with chili-like beaks started twitting their morning melody.
Just as they barged inside Calliope's car, Azriella took her music buds out and shoved it on her ears. As the music plays, from the back of her mind, moments from the past flash through.
Calliope and Azriella have been friends since third grade, she remembers how they hated each other so much before they became best of friends. Azriella glanced at her while driving sweetly, never thought our friendship would last this long.
They passed by these enormous gardens that stood like a royal palace and the thick dried strong brown branches danced welcoming the morning. The green-brown beautiful countless leaves whispered to each other about their morning plans.
Calliope pulled off at the school's parking lot, Azriella grabbed the door's lever to open it up the sound of the locks locking back, stopped her.
"What?" She glanced at Calliope.
"Say it," Calliope responded.
"Say what, Eli?" She answered with another question, but instead of answering, Eli just stared at her wearing that smile she wears every day.
Azriella sighed and rolled her eyes as she spoke, "It's another year to be challenged."
Calliope unlocked the door. "Correct password." She giggles.
"I love you." She continued teasing.
We're back again, ugh! Highschool.
