Cael woke up to the song of the birds and grinding of the plows. He moaned and turned over, not wanting to think about working on his Rising Day.

But the sounds would not cease and kept bothering him until, finally, Cael decided to get up and find something suitable to go to the Elder hut.

As Cael walked to his fathers side of the small establishment he called home he noticed something peculiar about the air. It started to smell more and more foul, like a demon hive. Cael did not bother to inspect this strange new odor. He selected the families best Fire Boar cloak and set off for his elders hut.

As Cael was halfway there he realized that the people were gone, and so were the birds.

"The birds are never gone", Cael thought to himself.

When his older brother Thamel ran up to him Cael wondered what was wrong.

"Cael!" Thamel yelled loudly, "Your late for your Rising Day!"

"Oh crud!"

"You better hurry if you want your mark" Thamel taunted.

Cael ran into the now close hut with heavy breath and a loud thumping heart.

"Your late." Sage nalha scalded.
