"Now, gimme back my bread!"
Kano yelled as she started to hit Kido's free arm. Kido just looked down at her with his straight face. "Take it then," he said.
Kano looked at his eyes before she jumped and tried her best to take it, but he's too tall and she's shorter than him of course. She tip toed and tried to touch it, but she couldn't. Kano decided to backed off. Kido looked at her.
"Give up already?" He asked. Kano looked down. If he just messing with her, it wouldn't turn into this. She clenched her fist before she turned and walked away.
Kido's eyes widened as he took two big steps and held Kano's shoulder. "Where are you going? What about the bread?" He asked bluntly. Kano looked aside and took his hand off her.
"Forget it. It's just a bread and its yours now."
Kido turned Kano's body in anger. Kano was surprised. She looked at Kido's angry eyes. "And you just gave it up?! That bread is the fruit of your hard work!" He yelled.
Kano looked aside, distressed a bit. "And you took it away from me... Just like the others," she mumbled, but Kido heard it.
"If I was the monster that in the book, I would tell the Liar if he needs to be honest, sometimes," he said.
"And if I was the Liar, I would ask you if the Liar did honest, will YOU, the Monster, believe it?" She said with her sarcasm tone.
Kido gulped his saliva. She's right. It will be very hard to believe what the Liar say, even if he told the truth. Kido looked at the depressed Kano. He never thought about it, but he believed if it's the right thing to do for now.
Kido stretched both of his hand and reached her shoulder. He pulled Kano into a hug. He hugged her and laid his head on hers. Kano, on the other side, was surprised. Her eyes widened as soon as her head met Kido's chest.
She was the only one who always hug him, just for messing around and sometimes she hugged him for warmth or for a slight safety. But this hug... It's different because Kido was the one who did it.
Kano squinted as she felt his warmth, his fragrance, his heartbeat. She really loved him but she afraid to admitted it. She remembered about the girls who really like Kido. She hoped that they didn't pass there and no one saw this.
"Hey... I'm sorry... I just don't know what to do... I really want to cheer you up but it never work..." He said softly on her ears.
"I-its okay... You don't have to cheer me."
'Because that's what you do everyday.'
"But I don't want you to suffer on your own..."
Kano's eyes widened again. He knows?!
"I've been looking for your information. Some guys and girls had apologise to me. They told me what they said or what they did to you. I really... I really want to say sorry." He said trembly.
Kano squinted again. "It's not your fault, really. It's just some jealous kids, they'll never understand that we're just... Friends and... Family or even orphans... I'm just a stranger...," she said.
Those words stabbed Kido directly. He never thought if Kano would think like that. "So all this time... Those smile you used and tears you shed... It's all just... A big lie?" He asked.
He couldn't keep the urge. His chest hurt too much for him to be bore by himself. He looked at Kano, who pulled herself from his arms. She smiled sadly as her eyes turned red.
"You can say so... The Liar needs to be honest, sometimes." She said.
Kano used her mask, so he couldn't see her weak side, her fragile heart. She covered her mouth and leaned her back to the wall. She couldn't stop the tears. She knew if this is the best, for both of them. For her safety, and his pride.
Kido clenched both of his fist. He didn't care about the bread. He just want to clarify a thing.
"So you just using me and my feelings?! You tricked me all this time?!" He yelled. The fake Kano turned a bit. "Your... Feelings?" She asked.
"If you want to know, let go off that mask first," he commanded. Kano looked away as she revealed her 'real' body. Her eyes were red because she cried just now.
Kido walked to her. "Don't come near me..." Kano said coldly. It's enough for her. Kido was her hope and her dreams, but after what she's gone through that day, she had to let the dreams go.
Kido stood in front of her and looked down at her. Kido put his hand on Kano's chin before he raised her head a bit. He leaned in and closes his eyes before...
They lips met in a soft kiss.
Kano eyes widened in surprise. She never know if Kido had this kind of courage. The courage to carry someone's burden. The courage to be with a liar. The courage... to believe in a liar.
Kano closed her eyes as she wrapped her arms around Kido's neck. She pulled him closer, making the kiss deeper.
Kido circled his arms around her waist and pulled her to himself. He could hear her loud and fast heartbeat. He kissed her gently and softly.
Kano pulled herself from the kiss after a few seconds. She covered her lips with her back hand while she's looking at Kido's eyes, searching for an answer.
Kido panted heavily. He let her took his first kiss, and he's okay with it, otherwise he liked it. It's like he just found a missing piece of a puzzle. He didn't know if kano had done this or not, but he didn't care.
Kano couldn't calm herself down. It's too sudden and she had no idea where's that come from. She knew it was Kido's first kiss but why her?
'You can give it to another girl who like you like crazy but... Why?' She thought. She looked down but then, she felt a heavy pressure pressed her head. She knew it was his head.
"... Do you remember those 3 words I said to you when we met for the first time?" Kido asked, half whispering. "Y-yeah... But I think I'm the one who had to say it to you but that time I fell asleep," Kano replied with chuckles.
"This isn't a fairytale and that book is just a fiction." Kido squinted lazily. Kano smiled a bit.
"But you did find me." 'In the middle of my nightmare.'
"Well, I did find you... By accident..."
"Eh~?! That's...!"
"No more arguing. Say a word again and I'll shut you up."
"..."
"Geez, now I have to babysitting you so they aren't any trouble again."
"..."
"Say something, you pissed me off."
"But you told me to shut my mouth up..."
Kido covered his eyes and sighed loudly. He realised his stupid and childish side just now. He opened his mouth to replied her but the bell rang. The break was over.
Kano chuckled and poked Kido's cheek. "You will cook for dinner tonight! I'll help you with the groceries later," she said as she walked to her class.
"Ah, Kido~"
"Now what...?"
Kano's smile widened. She showed him her best and her most honest smile which Kido hadn't see it for years.
"Thank you for finding me."
