Emergency

Aphmau's POV

I wake in bed, staring at a white ceiling. We don't have a white ceiling in our bedroom... oh, I forgot. I sit up in the hospital bed, and a doctor rushes over to me. 

"Hi, Mrs. Lycan, I'm doctor Katelyn and I need to ask you some questions that Mr. Lycan doesn't know the answer to."

"K-Katelyn!?" I ask, in shock. I never thought in a million years that she would be a DOCTOR.

"Shhh Aphmau yes its me, but friends of the family cant treat Freinds because of emotional attachment so act like we aren't for now ok?" She whispers.

"OK! I'm ready to start the questions Ms. doctor Katelyn" I giggle.

"It's Mrs."

"W-What!!!" I ask in shock, Falling into a daydream

"We'll talk about it later. For now focus on my questions." 

"Well, question number 1 was supposed to be your name and other things to test you  memory but since you recognized me after 3 years I'm going to say its fine, so Question no.1. How long have you been pregnant?"

"I cant believe I missed my friends wedding..." I mumble.

"MRS. LYCAN PLEASE FOCUS!" she practically shook me.

"oh, uh-sorry" I say.

"jeez, ok. Here we go again. Question no.1. How long have you been pregnant?"

"about, 3-4 months? maybe?" I answer.

"Maybe? how do you not even- whatever. question number 2. when did the symptoms start?"

"ah, I-I don't know, the last thing I remember was a cramp in my stomach last night..." She thinks aloud.

"last question I have is... uhm..." she stops.

"It's ok Katelyn. You can tell me." I say, and she sighs.

"I know you woulden't do this but you have to promise me that you'll tell the truth. otherwise we are not going to be able to get the help you need." she bit her lip.

"I promise." I say, like it's a solemnly oath.

"D-did you? Have an affair?" she stammers.

"Wh-What? No I would never do that!" I gasp, in shock.

" I didn't think so either, but I had to ask. Ok, well, that's it! I'll be back later but for now I'm going to let Aaron in, have fun!"

Aarons POV

"D-did you? Have an affair?" I hear Katelyn say, I'm next to the closed door and I heard it all. My heads spinning, what if she says yes?

"Wh-What? No I would never do that!" I breathe a sigh of relief.

" I didn't think so either, but I had to ask. Ok, well, that's it! I'll be back later but for now I'm going to let Aaron in, have fun!" I need to back up some steps so that Katelyn can leave. 

The door opens, and Katelyn walks out. 

"Oh, Hello there Mr. Lycan! You can see her now." She says, and hurriedly leaves to let me pass.

I step into the bright white room, not really anything in here but a curtain and some books, i think to myself. My mind is still whirling from the day's events, and I blurt 

"Aphmau did you have an affair with me? Don't lie PLEASE! I need to know!" I sit at the end of the bed, and she sits up, looking into my eyes.

"A-Aaron, I . . ." I can feel tears tugging at the corners of my eyes.

"-would never do that to you, you're the only love I have ever had. Why would I throw that away for some guy who Isn't even half the man you are?" she whispers softly, looking straight into my eyes the whole time. 

She looks at me with a concerned look in her eyes and I realize I'm crying. I lean into her, resting my head on her shoulders as she delicately wraps her arms around my back, softly singing a lullaby.

Her singing was beautiful. It was almost as if an angel had gifted her voice to her. I did not speak, I just sat there. This is one of the moments that I could never forget, I just want this to never end.

After a while, She pushes me away, and i can see the tears running down her cheeks.

"Y-Your just a b-big teddy b-bear aren't you?" she cries, and I realize that they are tears of joy. I sniffle. 

"Look at y-yourself! you're bawling your eyes out!" I smile, and she returns the smile back. Its nice to see that smile, I realize. 

"I haven't seen you smile like that in years Aph! It makes me so happy!" I smile even more, and her face turns a semi-dark shade of pink. I laugh, and she starts laughing too. I don't know why we are laughing, but we are. And for some reason, we don't want to stop either.

Katelyn's POV

I get a call from the recovery ward saying that there's two people who haven't stopped laughing for about 15 minutes, and all the other patients are wondering what's happening. I rush over to the ward, and source the laughter to Aphmau's room. I open the door slowly, to see them just laughing.  A small smile is found on my face, and I quickly close the door and walk over to the manager of the recovery ward.  

"Pseudobulbar affect," I say. (Pseudobulbar affect (PBA) is a condition that's characterized by episodes of sudden uncontrollable and inappropriate laughing or crying, often mistaken for bipolar disorder. The most famously known person who had it was a fictional character named The Joker.)

"Then there's not much we can do about it can we?" He answers.

"I'll add that to the list of things I need to tell the patient. She hit her head moderately hard, and those two have been living in solitude for 3 years, so most likely not something to worry about.

"just go tell them."

"Ok, sir."

Aphmau's POV

Katelyn walks in, telling us that we need to calm down so we can listen to what she has to say. I grab Aaron's arm and cling to it, looking up at him with a big smile on my face.

"first things first, the reason you two couldn't stop laughing was most likely caused by Pseudobulbar affect, aka PBA. Pseudobulbar affect is a condition which can cause sudden uncontrollable laughing. not really harmful, but still wanted to let you know." Then she points at me, saying 

"The bad news is what's causing it. you have toxoplasmosis, a parasite that causes your symptoms. good news is its easily treated, as people with healthy immune systems normally don't need medication, and seeing as you are fine, I would say that your only issue is that it cann harm the baby. so far as we know, it hasnt contracted the parasite yet. but if it did... it could cause birth defects." 

My heart stopped.
