"Jimin!" Jungkook shrieked and ran to embrace the smaller boy in a hug at once.
Jimin hugged him back, although Taehyung's word still gnawed at the back of his head.
That's what he was like.
That's what he did to people's minds.
A scandalous yet brilliant psychopath.
He followed his boyfriend inside his shared apartment complex. The 'sharing' being the very problem, at the moment.
"Wanna go say hi to Jin hyung?" Jungkook questioned. Bullseye.
"No, um l-let's let him rest, he's got alot on his plate." Jimin lied.
Jungkook pressed his nose against the boy's temple, "okay." He whispered as Jimin leaned into him. Letting himself go, for just a while before he questioned everything. If he really had to let go for a while, he still had the right to feel the boy's warmth, right? He felt so guilty for doubting Jungkook's love but hey, he didn't know the truth yet, right? And afterall, he had a right to know?
Kim Taehyung was yet again able to fry an innocent mind just for the sake of his sick mind games and personal pleasure.
"Jungkookie..." Jimin bit his lip, carefully.
Jungkook let go of him, frowning a little. He could sense something wrong from the moment he saw the boy but he decided to keep quiet.
"You-" he trailed off, glancing at the boy's chest but not meeting his eyes.
"What's is it, baby?" Jungkook questioned, sincerely concerned. The kind of concern that was more tilted towards the 'I'd kill for you' than the 'I'd die for you' kind.
"Seokjin hyung...y-you like, like him?" The boy stuttered, "r-romantically?" forcing the words out of his mouth as fast as he could because he himself wasn't sure how long his courage would last very long.
His eyes were closed, fingers crossed as every fibre in his existence anticipated the other boy's answer. A negative one. The one that never came, immediately.
Jungkook's face got drained of the colour and sparkle it recently contained. Mouth going dry as if he suddenly lost all the eloquence he usually held.
"Who-wh-what?" He stuttered out, more terrified than confused.
Now, Jimin wasn't an idiot, right? He saw the boy's state change right before his eyes. That only meant one thing, didn't it? Taehyung's accusations were at last truth.
He stepped back, shaking his head repeatedly as all the memories played his mind once again.
"Jimin-ah wait!" Jungkook tried moving closer to the boy. Trying to hold him in his arms and tell him it's not what he thinks it is, but Jimin just held up a hand.
Too hurt to think rationally as the only sane thought in his head was of being oblivious all this time.
"You could, you could've told me...y-you know?" He hiccuped, sitting down against the wall, cupping his knees to his chest.
Jungkook shook his head, sitting down infront of him as he held his hands. And Jimin let him, knowing the boy owed him an explanation but not uttering a single word, himself.
"It's a ch-childhood thing, Jiminie." He told the boy, voice shaky as tears rolled down his rosy cheeks.
Jimin didn't look at him, eyes fixated on their linked hands as his lips quivered, tears like diamonds making their way down his cheeks and gathering at his jaw.
"I-It was so s-stupid, fuck Jimin please don't cry!" He wiped the boy's tears with his sleeves, continuing to explain himself.
"Jin-Jin hyung doesn't even know." He shook his arrhythmically, all the way gulping down the tears in his throat making it difficult to speak.
He squeezed Jimin's hand so hard that his knuckles turned white.
"Please look at me, Jimin!" He whispered, pleading.
"Please see my heart!" He hiccuped, as Jimin withdrew his hands from the boy's hold.
He stood up, his eyes falling on the portrait of the two on the adjacent wall. His jaw clenched. 'How stupid of you, Jimin.' 'You're an IDIOT!' He cursed himself, looking away.
"I need time." He finally told Jungkook, closing his eyes as new tears found their way down his cheek.
He couldn't even look at the boy, but it wasn't because he hated him, No. Mayhaps it was because he hated himself more for being so oblivious that he couldn't dare glance at the boy. Maybe if he weren't there between the two, thing's would've been easier and Jungkook didn't have to hide it. Maybe if Jungkook hadn't hid the fact from him, he wouldn't ever dare to make a move on him.
Too many 'maybe's, a myriad of 'what if's. But it was merely the fact that he knew if he looked at the boy, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from giving into him. He didn't want to. Not right now.
"Jimin hyung..." Jungkook wanted to yell but it came out as a mere whisper. His last resort. He had never called the boy that and maybe it was the first and the last time that he did.
It took Jimin by surprise as he finally turned to look at the boy. The boy with bloodshot eyes and a begging body.
"You're-you're the only person I know as love. Your eyes, your touch, your arms, baby they're the only refuge I have. Please! Please don't take it away from me! Please! I'll die! Jimin!"
He was crying, imploring with all that he had in himself.
"T-time...I need time, Jungkook...please." Jimin repeated, turning away to leave yet again.
"I'll wait for you!" Jungkook called out after him, crouching still.
"I'll wait for you till the sun dies, Jimin. Till my last breath leaves my body and even after still." He told him, voice made heavy by all the crying.
"I promise." He finished telling the boy whose heart seemed to have turned to stone as if he'd looked directly into Medusa's eyes.
And he left. Without uttering a single word to the boy who cried for him, begged him for another chance. Just because it's better for him, he thought.
'It best for them both.' Jimin told himself, as he got into his car. Although, his heart was left somewhere in the corner of Jungkook's apartment.
Little did they know what beheld their fate.
If only they knew.
