Only Three Words (End)

I unconsciously twirled a piece of string in my hands as I spoke to Marik on the phone.

"Is everything okay? We had to leave, Bakura was getting...iffy."

"Malik's getting better," He didn't seem annoyed. "And is Bakura okay? What do you mean by iffy?"

I sighed a little, coiling the string around my finger, "He's...Well, you know how he is - he hasn't really explained."

"Well when Malik's better we can all meet up!" I heard the hope in his voice. He must miss his small yet chaotic adventures. "Right?"

"Of course, Marik," I smiled, "I'll be sure to drag Bakura along."

He let out a small laugh, "Great! Come back soon, okay?"

"I will. Not too sure about Mr. Grumpy but I'll try and come down tomorrow, okay?"

I heard Marik's usual happy chuckle down the phone, and he probably nodded too. "Okay! See you then, Ry."

"Bye, Marik."

The phone made it's usual dead-end beep, and I flipped it down. Letting out a deep sigh, I turned my attention to the living room. Bakura was in there.

He offered to talk to Marik himself, but he did teach me how to lie quite well. I hate lying to Marik, though. Marik is possibly one of my closest friends - lying to him didn't feel right. But I had to do it. If Bakura did it, it'd be too obvious.

I shuffled quietly into the living room, closing the door behind me. Bakura didn't turn around from watching the TV. One of his favourite films were on.

"You seem negative."

How did he know without turning around? "Well I had to lie to Marik. You know I hate doing that."

"I did offer to do it."

"Yes, but...never mind..." I mumbled, taking my place beside him and leaning my head on his shoulder. He didn't even flinch.

I sighed and looked at the TV. Bakura's horror films always scared me. He seemed like the type of person to enjoy all of this type of 'slash murder' type action, but I just wasn't up for it.

"I promised Marik I'd see him tomorrow..." I quietly mumbled.

"Oh?" He didn't seem surprised.

"Yeah...you don't have to come..."

"I'll go."

"Really?" I looked at him, raising a brow. He gave a small nod and I knew he was sure about it. "Okay then..."

He smiled a little and bumped his forehead against mine, now giving off a surprisingly coy smirk, "Do you doubt me?"

I couldn't help but blush. His voice deepened to a soft and gentle tone, and it made me shift awkwardly. I couldn't look him in the eye.

"N-No..." I muttered, averting my gaze.

"Ryou~" He tipped me over onto the couch.

He was now on top of me, and I could only wish for the blush to go away... This was definitely not healthy. It couldn't be. Not to blush this much anyway.

I cleared my throat, still not looking at him directly in the eye, "B-Bakura...?"

"Look at me...Bet you can't."

"I-I can!" Yet I wasn't doing it.

"You're not looking at me~"

I gulped and took a deep breath, slowly moving my eyes to meet Bakura's rusty gaze. I couldn't help myself from going a bright shade of red. He looked so...mesmerizing. His eyes were so beautiful, and he even smirked.

I covered my face with my hands almost immediately, earning a small chuckle from the one on top of me. Bakura just lifted my hands away and crashed his lips against mine.

It was over in about two seconds. It was a small, hasty kiss that he decided to fool me with. I frowned at him and all he did was grin evilly, lifting us both into a sitting position and petting my head.

"You thought...~"

"Did not!"

"You so did."

"Oh shut up..." I pinched his cheek, making him giggle.

I stopped pinching his cheek and gasped. Bakura giggled. I had to fight the urge not to squeal and hug him tightly.

Unfortunately for him, I could only control one of those. I shuffled close to him and embraced him in a warm hug, letting out a small smile and snuggling into his chest.

"You alright?" Bakura's voice wasn't deep anymore. It was soothing.

I nodded, snuggling deeper into his chest. I could practically feel the muscles on my face, and I had to let out a bigger grin. I think he knew what I was grinning about.

"Hey, Ryou..."

He moved my face to look at him. I met his rusty brown eyes and the blush came back again, but I didn't mind it this time. Bakura wasn't teasing me at this point.

"Yes?"

"I love you."

The words were too magical to fully comprehend. Even now, when I've accepted what Bakura had done, and had moved on - it was like someone had sung a simple, yet so beautiful melody. It was only three words...only three words.

"I love you too."

Four words to reply, and they were so simple too. I bet Bakura had the same feeling I did - the words resonating inside of him as they did I.

Of course I don't doubt that's the most likely case. His is probably something more bearable, and less admittably feminine. Did I care? Of course not.

I eskimo kissed him, before grinning and poking his cheek. Bakura looked confused, but I wasn't.

"Bakura?" I mumbled.

"Hm?" He looked at me.

"Together forever?"

He nodded.

"Promise me!" I grinned.

He shared the same, sly grin, "I promise you~"

I intertwined my fingers with his.
