I watched out the window as we drove, watching the trees swoosh back and fourth against the wind. There was a storm coming from the looks of the dark brooding sky above us and I could see in the distance Michael's old black Chevrolet Camaro catching up to us slowly but sure enough, as we reached the drive of our house U-Haul still parked at the very edge at the top leaving enough space for the two cars. After we had parked and Aries helping me out first then to Michael who had stopped to get food for us before we left the hospital. Aries practically ran to the front door beaming with excitement while trying to open the door with arms full of bags. Michael with a few bags himself stayed beside me as we walked a bit slower to get to the door my body still aching from the wreck as we almost reached the first step I was taken aback by a high pitch like squealing causing me to jump, jerking my injured arm wincing at the pain.
Michael had immediately turned his direction to the sound of the squeal, tense at first then almost immediately relaxed at we seen the raven haired girl running in our direction. As I prepared myself for the impact that was sure to come I subconsciously close my eyes as I hear Michael speak "Ah, ah, Ah. No tackling the injured and disabled!" He laughed stepping infront of the now frowning woman but then gives a thin smile "I heard what happened, me and Danny were worried all night!" She spoke as she brushed passed Michael slowly "How did you find out?" I asked curiously "Well, Danny heard from Caitlyn who heard it from Michael over here, they both grew up in the same village growing up so they are all pretty close." She said shrugging. "Village?" I asked even more confused and also now wondering who Caitlyn was.
"Caitlyn helps around the village and often at my house helping James, you met him already." Michael spoke up drawing our attention "She's pretty much like a sort of secretary for him definitely smarter than us. But I had to call to let her know I wouldn't be making it back to the house, and she'd let my brother know." He shrugged. "I guess that explains the lot of it then." I say sarcastically causing Evora and Michael to laugh. We stood there a few more minutes explaining the accident and how Michael and I had become familiar with the other including the moment in the sheriffs station to my distaste, before we felt the first drops of rain and said our goodbyes and went on into the house.
When we walked in we found Aries sitting on the sofa stuffing his face with fries as he looked up at us innocently "You guys were taking to long talking to that girl! I will not starve due to your hormones." He laughed as he passed us our drinks, and we took our seats. Going through the boxes closest to me I find the vintage record player, trying to lift it from the box and failing getting the disapproving looks from Aries and Michael as I let out and exaggerated sigh as Aries stands up and gets the player out of the box setting it up nest to the old fire place. Searching through boxes for the records finding only the set of Bowie and Prince settling on Bowies Blackstar album listening as Lazarus starts playing, at least we all seen to have the same taste in music I thought to myself.
As the evening went on they had most of the boxes inside before the rain had began to pour down harder, leaving the house a bit more chilly than usual so Aries had decided to start up the fire place moving any boxes away from the open flames. Box after box they began going through what needed to remain down stairs and what would go upstairs by the staircase. "So.." Michael spoke up breaking the silence "What made you guys decide on this place?" looking down into one of the boxes he had opened. "Liked the architecture and the history of the house of course." Aries replied shrugging "Was part of some underground railroad is what it said in the description." I said looking up from my own box. "Interesting." Michael said to himself half listening I suppose.
We sat in silence again going through the boxes as we hear a loud crack and crash from outside the house casing us all to jump and look out the window, a tree had been struck by lightning and had blocked our drive way. "Fuck." Michael half yelled "Looks like I'm not headed home anytime soon tonight." He spoke as his shoulders fell "At least it didn't hit my car." He laughed as his hair fell a bit into his face causing Aries and myself to laugh. It's gonna be a long night.
