aizawa ended the lecture with a familiar goodbye. as expected, everyone got up from their seats almost immediately, going to their friends for a little chat. it was lunch break anyway, so the teachers didn't mind.
"shouto-kun, this is the time. go ask her to have lunch with you, and then just tell her." izuku went to shouto's bench, whispering close to his ear.
shouto stood up, not wanting to meet izuku's eyes. "i don't get what you're talking about midoriya. it's not like that. y/n and i are just best friends. i don't like her like that." he fidgeted his fingers, already getting the anxiety from just thinking about asking you out.
izuku let out a sigh "shouto. look. you do like her, you just can't keep ignoring it any longer." shouto protested, "how do you know i like her? it's normal to want to be close to your best friend, like hug her and stuff, maybe lay down with her, and tell her everything i feel, it's normal."
uraraka widened her eyes a bit, and then spoke "oh my god, shouto that is not normal. beleive me, i used to imagine doing that with izuku, and now we're dating."
shouto knew he liked you, he practically daydreamed of you every night. he knew that it wasn't normal, he wasn't that dense anymore. but he was afraid, afraid that if he confessed, you'll just drift away from him, and he'll end up alone.
but on the other hand, he desperately wanted to hold your hand, hug you, kiss you, make you feel special, to be made feel special by you. he wanted to do it before it's too late.
he had already asked you to eat with him at lunch last night, to which you immediately agreed.
his eyes scanned around the classroom, searching for you, but he couldn't find you anywhere. he wanted to buy you your favourite chocolate milk, and he could just drink strawberry milk sitting beside you.
"kirishima, do you know where y/n went?" shouto asked kirishima, who was sitting with a stressed expression on his face.
kirishima didn't look up at todoroki instead just started to stand up "uh, i don't know she might be somewhere... i mean i just don't know." shouto wanted to ask kirishima what was wrong, but he realized that it must be something normal, so he didn't bother, and went out of the class.
shouto passed by a group of girls, all looking at him and silently whispering, he knew they were talking about him. at times like this, he wished you were beside him.
he didn't have any problem with girls or boys drooling over him, but he didn't like it when they thought that he would pay any kind of attention to them. the only person he wanted to pay his attention, give his time - his everything, was you.
deep in his thoughts, he didn't notice iida coming from the other side of the corridor, not running but walking fast with his hands going up and down.
"shouto kun! may i know, why are you all alone today?" he asked shouto, fixing his glasses.
"uh, it's nothing. i wanted to eat with y/n today, but... she's nowhere to be found. i hope she's not in any danger." shouto said looking concerned.
he had already tried to call you, but you left your phone on your class bench. he thought about how he will scold you for not taking your phone and making him feel worried, but that was thing for another time.
"she probably forgot." iida said with a stoic look, not wanting to hurt shouto. "yeah, i hope that's the case."
iida's face curled up into a small smile, like a proud brother. "it's fascinating how much you care about her shouto-kun! you are a true friend!"
shouto nodded his head, starting to walk with iida to the cafeteria where he could buy strawberry and chocolate milk for both of you.
as both of them entered the cafeteria, they noticed mina, kaminari and sero laughing out loud. shouto tried to escape without them noticing him, but unfortunately they did notice him.
"todoroki! do you know what happened?" shouto was the least interested in whatever could've happened, he didn't care at all. giving a sigh, he replied "who's it about? i'll only listen if it's something important."
"oh you will listen todoroki! it's about our y/n!"
