Chapter 4: “Gift Exchange”

After all the craziness in the mall and escaping the fans with the help of SHINee’s bodyguards, the eight stars decided to call it a break and went back to their apartments. Two days later after a lot of last minute shopping for each other and avoiding the mass paparazzi, it was finally Christmas and SHINee was on their way to the girls’ apartment for the exchange.

At Folly’s apartment, the girls were just lounging around, doing their own things. Choi Soon Dae, the girls’ manager, was sitting on the main room’s couch, researching business on her laptop. Maddie was next to her manager, playing Persona 4 on her play station. Kalyn was in the bathroom curling her hair and doing last minute touch-ups on her make-up. Lastly, Stephanie was in the kitchen, decorating the Christmas desserts she made earlier that day. Since it was a holiday, Stephanie decided to make the feast for the tonight and cooked all day. The menu tonight was bulgogi, steamed or fried rice, chapchae, kongnamul, siguchinamul, kimbap, and seulongtang. The desserts were cupcake Christmas trees, chocolate trees, and mochi ice cream.

“Ne~ can I have a least one?” Maddie begged, already bored with the game she was currently playing.

Stephanie tore her eyes away from the green icing on the cupcake and saw Maddie leaning right next to the kimbap tower she made. Instantly, Stephanie shooed her away and said, “No.”

Maddie pouted her bottom lip and tried using her aegyo on her dongsaeng. “Pwease~?”

Stephanie just rolled her eyes and pulled out the plate full of imperfect kimbap rolls from the cutting part earlier and handed her appa the plate. “You can have the ugly ones.”

“Yes!” Maddie cheered, not caring that they were the ugly ones. Food was food. She happily skipped out of the kitchen, aka Stephanie’s fortress, and was about to plop down back on the couch to continue her game when Kalyn stopped her.

“Hey! I want one,” Kalyn demanded, holding her hand open towards Maddie.

Maddie playfully pulled the plate back towards herself and teasingly barked, “No!”

Kalyn held her flat-iron out towards Maddie’s face and threatened her, “Don’t make me burn you.”

Defeated, Maddie handed over some of her pieces of kimbap. Her maknae was such a bully sometimes, but it was understandable. Kimbap was their favorite dish and they would do anything to eat some.

“Ahem,” the girls’ manager coughed, signaling that Maddie better hand those over before hell broke loose.

“Eonni~!” Maddie whined, knowing that she wasn’t going to have as many now. Manager-eonni gave Maddie a stern glare and right away, Maddie knew she lost.

As she trudged over there, Maddie grumbled, “It’s no fair…”

Back in the kitchen, Stephanie was chuckling, overhearing the mini fight over her food. She was really glad that everyone liked her cooking.

Ding dong!

“They’re here!” Stephanie shouted from the kitchen, continuing her work on the cupcakes.

Manager-eonni was already by the front door and softly scolded Stephanie. “Yah, you’re too loud.”

Stephanie just childishly stuck her tongue out at her when Manager-eonni turned away and opened the door. The two managers exchanged greetings as SHINee entered the apartment with bags full of gifts.

“Alright, you girls better be on your best behavior,” Manger-eonni warned her girls as Maddie and Kalyn greeted SHINee.

“Yeah, I don’t think I can handle anymore scandals,” SHINee’s manager grumbled, obviously annoyed by the scene Key and Stephanie made earlier that week.
