Mrithi heard the cheers of the people that were reunited just outside the castle, they were all there for his coronation.
Just as Sozoku suggested, Mrithi spent all the time he could with his parents, focusing on the good moments they had left instead of fearing the innevitable.
Mflame and Malkia passed away a couple of months after the diagnosis of their illnesses, everyone was heartbroken at the loss of their saviors and Mrithi had spent days crying alone on his room, he let everything out, all his grief and pain, he wasn't ashamed to say that he was indeed destroyed and confused.
While at first it was difficult to even get up from his bed, Sozoku's words always resonated in Mrithi's mind and once he was able to fully accept what he was going through, he was decided on recovering, not only for his people, but also for himself.
Sozoku, Genzo's new king, approached his friend and gave him a smile.
"I'm glad you are able to say you're ready to take your rightful place"
Mrithi returned the smile and replied:
"It took me a while to be sure, but I know this is my place and it's what my parents wanted, I hve to honor their wish"
Sozoku nodded and bowed "Very well, go then, King Mrithi"
Mrithi chuckled and hugged Sozoku, once they separated, he went towards the balcony of the castle, the people were waiting.
One of the sevants placed the king's crown on his head, the staff of the castle looked at him with pride.
Mrithi and the servant turned to see the sea of people.
"People of Rekishi, today we celebrate the coronation of our new monarch, the one who will continue the greatness of King Mflame and Queen Malkia's reign, I present to you, King Mrithi!"
The people roared at the presentation of their new king, Mrithi looked proudly towards his people and waved, accepting his role as Rekishi's new king.
Once the ceremony was over, Mrithi sneaked away towards the celebrations, there was one last thing he had to do.
"Mom, dad, sorry to keep you waiting, sneaking away when everyone is seeing you isn't easy" Mrithi chuckled as he placed two bouquets of roses on his parents'graves.
Mflame and Malkia's last wish was to be burried in a hill that was placed on the border of Rekishi, it may seem strange that the rulers chose such a far away place from the castle to rest, but Mrithi knew their reason, that hill was a place the three of them visited a lot, most importantly, it was the last place they went to before the late monarchs died.
"I have to honest with you" Mrithi began as stared at the graves "I'm still not entirely sure about how I should rule, but thinking about it, I don't think you were either, you learned along the way and so will I"
The new king saw how the sun was about to rise, he stood up and began walking away when suddenly he felt a comforting breeze blow by him.
Mrithi closed his eyes as the wind blew his hair, once the wind stopped he smiled and said:
"That's a promise, thank you, I'll be the best king possible, rest well mom and dad"
Mrithi walked towards the castle while the sun was rising, rising to announce a new reign.
One of many more to come.
