4. Crib shopping

Gouenji opened the door to the baby store and Kira bolted in, leaving him to push the stroller in.

"Look at the decor. It's so colorful! " She looked at the rainbow painted on the walls, "I have never seen such a colorful store. "

She then rushed to the toys section and made a swift turn and went out of sight.
"Bring Endou here!" Her voice instructed the next moment.

Gouenji sighed and followed her voice. She was standing next to the plushie aisle, awestruck by all the colorful stuffed animals and characters. Endou was really happy to look at them too. Kira spotted one that was the mascot of that year's World Cup. She picked up two of them,

"Look at this!" She bent down to level with Endou and showed it to him, "I'll get one for you and for me. Then we'll have matching plushies. "

Endou giggled and showed his enthusiasm. Kira then picked one more and extended it towards Gouenji,
"Do you want to join our team?" She asked.

"No, I'm fine. " Gouenji answered, chuckling a little. Kira shrugged and put the third one away. They made their way towards the crib section but after a few steps Kira stopped again.

"Oh my God! Look at this!" She gasped as she pulled out a tiny soccer jersey, "It's so tiny!" She squealed.

"You want this, right?" She showed it to Endou who, of course, never disagreed with her. They both celebrated buying the jersey with some happy noises.

"Let's not forget what we are really here for. " Gouenji had to interrupt them.

They reached the crib section and after looking around a bit, picked one. Although, they had no idea what specifics to look for and when they thought enough time had passed looking, Kira just pointed at a color she liked and it was picked.

They went up to the counter to pay for everything and let them know the address to deliver the crib. Kira began looking in her purse for her card but when she found it and looked up Gouenji's card was already being swiped.
"What did you do?!" She exclaimed, "I was going to buy the plushies and the jersey for Endou!"

"It's okay." Gouenji calmly answered.

"No it's not okay!" She was agitated, " I wanted to buy them. " She was annoyed and walked out of the store with hasty steps.

Gouenji followed her, carrying the bag with the plushies and jersey. Kira was waiting at the curb with her arms crossed. She didn't turn to him when he approached her. He picked out one of the plushies and extended it to her.

"It's yours now. I don't want it. " She responded annoyedly.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Just take it. " He smiled.

"Fine. But I can't accept it. " She answered plainly now. Gouenji pondered over what to do for a few moments. He then spoke again,"Okay, can you accept it as a gift?"

Kira looked at him and the plushie back and forth, without softening her expression.

"Why would you give me a gift? It's not my birthday. " She replied.

"For keeping Endou company. " He said and then added, "And me too. " He looked at her expectantly as he smiled.

This finally did the trick and Kira could no longer hold her anger. She didn't say anything but softened her expression and accepted the plushie.

"Let's go. " She said as she smiled ever so slightly and began walking.

At home as Gouenji prepared the baby food for Endou, Kira made the plushies dance around in front of him and he clapped and enjoyed immensely. Gouenji glanced over his shoulder and couldn't help but smile at the scene. He was happy that Endou wasn't too stressed about his situation. Even though the situation was dire, stressing and panicking would only lead to more troubles.
