y/c/n - your crushes name
(for this story, your crush is male!)

< 3rd person pov >

"hey dad?"

jj's head turned towards his daughter, slightly worrying at her tone. "what's up?" she didn't look back at him, or respond right away. she bit her lip, shrugging.

"you okay?"

y/n and jj had always been close. jj being her only parental role, made them quite close. but, there were things y/n didn't like to do, talk about or show to her father.

emotions had been a rather hard to deal with at times and seeing her fathers stress with money and such, made her refrain from sharing her worries.

jj never had to deal with her problems, because she refused to let them ruin her dad's mood or make him worry. but this thought had been bugging her for several years. the thought made her uncomfortable, sad, scared and angry. she hated to think about it, but she didn't know how to stop thinking about it.

she looked towards her father, before looking away.

jj sensed how tense she was, uncomfortable even. she was reluctant. "y/n?"

"i don't want minnow to die." she swallowed, her eyes going to the grass, her hand scratching at the back of her neck. "when he does..." she paused, glancing to jj, "i don't know what i'll do."

she looked towards her dog, smirking at the sight of him eating some grass by the chateau. jj nudged her knee with his. "i don't know what i'll do either." he shared. "he's been a great dog, for about 11 years."

"minnow is gettin old. but he's still here."

"still no name y/n?" john b asked the girl, watching as jj helped her throw the reel of the fishing rod into the water. "not yet." she sighed, looking towards the panting dog.

"we're gonna need to come up with something mama..." jj said to her, sighing when she nodded. "i know! but it has to be perfect! i don't want him to hate his name!" she defended. she was aware that it was taking a long time for her to come up with something, but she really wanted his name to be perfect...and she would take as much time as she needed in order for that to happen.

jj and john b talked for awhile, jj making sure
y/n didn't accidentally go overboard some how. the dog moved to be beside y/n, looking into the water the same as her.

the reel began to bend, y/n's muscles tightening at the sudden force. water began to splash onto y/n and the dog. "daddy!" she screamed, looking over at him, wanting his help. "you got it baby, don't let it go." he instructed. he didn't want to do it for y/n, where would be the fun in that?

y/n grunted as she kept pulling at it. the dog barked at the water, his tail wagging excitedly. without warning, he jumped into the water once a fish graced the surface.

fearing he couldn't swim, y/n stopped caring about the fish tugging at the water - now worrying about her dog.

"no!" she shouted, seeing as the dog stuck his head in the water. his body began to thrash in the water, further worrying not only y/n, but jj and john b as well.

jj had to hold y/n back, not wanting her to accidentally drown, get hurt or hurt the dog. but john b went to the side of the boat, leaning over to try and get hold of him. luckily he was able to. his hands grabbed onto his back legs, pulling him towards the boat.
