Jennifer POV

My day off!

I was outside in my garden in my sweatpants, sorting out the plants I had brought last Sunday that I had just left in their plastic containers.

It was great to start making the garden more colourful; after all, the inside of my bungalow was.

I heard the toast pop up in the kitchen and went inside to wash my hands and eat.

It was great to relax on a Sunday, that is what the day is for. I picked up the magazine in front of me on the table and opened it up to the page I saved.

'Top Five pets for the workaholics!'

I have debated whether to get a pet now for ages! I thought about it long and hard and was now ready to add a relative to the family.

I wanted to have 'Number 2'.

And number two was a tank of golden fish.

I don't quite know how cats topped the list if I'm honest.

I was ready to go down to the shops and pick up my new room-mate but I needed to put on some make-up first.

Not longer after, I got to the door to get out and saw my mail. There was five envelopes but four that I have to own up about. I shouldn't complain about this waste of paper because I, yes I, tick the box whenever an online catalogue asks if I wanted updates without a second thought to it. I regretted it now but I was just about used to it.

Amongst the junk was a brown envelope that I knew was far from Junk.

In the top right hand corner there was a circular logo with 'C.C.C' just beneath it.

I went and sat back down and opened it up.

'Dear Miss Wilson,

We are delighted to say that you have been enlisted onto the Night Patrol team at San Jose Police Department. We would like to firstly congratulate you on being one of the first Officers and Departments to start the Night Patrol Program. We are looking forward to your shifts starting the week of 16th Jul.

Your colleague for Night Patrol has been given to your Leader who will tell you ASAP. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information. Thank you, Matthew Joyon, Head of C.C.C.'

Wow. It's finally come around.

I was actually quite excited for my first ever night time job. It was new to me and I was getting comfortable with my day time shifts. It was the same type of role each and every week.

In the post-scriptum it said I was expecting a call from my Leader at any time today.

I was actually starting to feel giddy so I put the letter down and left in my car to the shops.

“Hi! I'm looking for small zebrafish?”

“Oh, right this way Madam!”

This young enthusiastic boy took me to the back of the pet store to the fish tanks.

“How many do you want to buy?”

“Five?” I said it hesitantly because I didn't know if that was too many or too few. I had no idea.

“Okay and are you planning on purchasing the right apparatus from here?”
