John's POV

What did I fucking say to her?

I'm stupid!

"Um... I have to go now, I'll see you later..." Veronica takes her arms off of me and I pull away from her as if she had her head falling off of her.

"Wait, I-"

She takes a few steps back and holds up her index finger to keep me from talking. She turns around to her house and we hear Eliot argue with the baby and a loud shriek erupted from the house.

"John, I have no words to respond to you right now. I wish I could say something but I have nothing to say and I can't think of anything, alright? Just give me some time, and I'll see you around when you and Eliot play..."

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that, really. I don't know what crossed my mind and-"

"Stop explaining yourself, I understand. Listen, I have to go, these kids might get me in some serious trouble if they get hurt but I will think about it and I'll see you around!"

She walks back to me and unexpectedly kisses my cheek again, her hand rests on my face for a brief second before she walks away.

"I..." Stupid me, wanting to add unnecessary things to a dead conversation. I didn't even mean to say it that loudly. Maybe I have Tourette's. She turns around and furrows her eyebrows.

"You what?"

"I'll see you around. Do you want me to take you to school tomorrow?" She smiles and looks back at the house, now Mrs. Fiocchi pulls up on the driveway.

"Dad always drives me to school, but if you wanna do the same as today, it's fine by me. I really have to go now. Take care and look after yourself. I care about you, okay?"

I nod and a smile broke free as I see her beautiful eyes. She waved goodbye and hurries away to the house before Mrs. Fiocchi gets out of her car.

"Hello, John! You're early today!" Mrs. Fiocchi says to me before approaching me, shaking my hand. I hadn't noticed they are a family of money.

Their stuff is expensive and they drive expensive cars. They all have their own televisions in each room. Eliot told me that, of course. I think they try to come off as modest but nope.

They're pretty rich!

"No, ma'am. I came to visit my mom and so happened to stumble upon Veronica... so do I come today at six thirty?"

"Uh, no, we have something going on today. I appreciate it but there's family visiting from far away and they're lots of people. It can get too overwhelming." She says with a laugh, another scream comes from the house. It sounds like Eliot.

"I'll leave you now, have a good afternoon, Mrs. Fiocchi."

"Have a nice day too." She waves before walking into the house. I crossed the street and went home. I rang the bell and waited for someone to answer the door.

No one answered, but I could hear Eric's toys being thrown around the living room. Okay, maybe mom doesn't want to see me. Maybe it's that idiot, Giordano, who tells my mom she shouldn't help me.

I won't lie, he had been a great help to me since he encouraged me to pick up the guitar and learn to play music but lately he has been a pain in the ass.

He wants to act like my dad and honestly, that doesn't even fit him at all. He isn't some paternal figure to me and will never be no matter how hard he tries. He can father Eric around, but not me.

So I walked to the side of the house and walked to the backyard, checking to see if they were there but nothing. Then, I notice the kitchen window is open.

How do you take the screen off?

I noticed a little latter and I climbed up to the window, forcing the screen off as I carefully crawled through the window to the kitchen sink. I was quiet so I wouldn't startle anyone.

I walk to the living room, Eric on his little play area playing with his toys. Then I start to hear mom's mattress being oddly squeaky.

Oh god...

They're fucking!

Realization hit me, and this was suddenly far worse than being rejected by Veronica. Eric looks at me and jumps in fright, starting to cry and yell loudly.

The squeaking stops, thank god, but now mom and that asshole come running out from their room wearing nothing but robes. I cover my eyes and look away from them.

I don't want to be double traumatized if anything shows from their robes. I wait to get lectured but they instead run to stop Eric from crying.

"What are you doing here, John?" I heard mom ask, I shrug and look away.

"I was coming by to say hi, I am also sorry for breaking in through the kitchen window..."

"Don't you have a key?" She asks, I shake my head and look at the wall on the opposite side of them, staring at the hideous texture bubbles that stick out from the wall.

"You took it from me, remember? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you guys... Eric just got scared, I guess."

"It's fine-"

"No it's not, you broke into the house like a damn delinquent! What if the neighbors saw you? What if someone called the police?! How do we explain you're-"

"First of all, you're not gonna yell at me, Giordano. And second of all, you're not my dad so you could lecture me that way. I am grown enough to know what's good for me. I will treat you the way you treat me so if I were you, I'd be careful of your actions."

He stays silent, which is great because I so happen to be irritated by him. I don't belong here anymore. I mean, I never did in the first place, I think to myself.

I squint my eyes to look at mom, now putting Eric back on the floor. Once she doesn't have that kid on her, I pull her in a tight hug and kiss her cheek.

"Mom, I've got to go now. I hope we still have communication since I will never come here in my life again, I realized I'm not welcome here... hope you're happy now." I mumble so he could hear me but he doesn't say a word.

"You're my son, I love you, John. You can't leave me here. I've watched you grow, I've been around you since you were a baby!"

"I know and I love you too, mom. The thing is that your boyfriend here has been a dick to me lately and I won't stay around and put up with it."

"Stay, I can make you a tea or your favorite spaghetti." I shake my head and pull away, looking in her eyes to avoid the robe.

"Sorry, I have to go now. I wanted to drop by and say hello but I can't be around here anymore. I'll miss you all, except you. You can choke." I point at Giordano and mom giggles at my joke, he just shook his head.

"Take care, I'm a call away if you ever need me." Mom says and I smile, getting out of the house as quickly as I possibly can.

As I walk down the street to my apartment (I have to walk in the direction of the Fiocchi's house), I happened to see Veronica talking with another dude...
