Olivia decided to give Spencer a call following the events that happened with the cop. She felt as if she needed someone to be with and to feel reassurance and comfort from.
Olivia calls Spencer:
Spencer: Hey, Liv, what's up?
Olivia starts to cry.
Spencer: Are you ok? Why are you crying?
Olivia: Earlier, a cop came near me and basically intimidated me because of me releasing the footage. I was so scared. I didn't know what to do, Spencer.
Spencer: It's ok, Liv. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Do you want me to come over?
Olivia: Yes, please. That's why I called you. I need someone right now. You were the first person I thought of.
Spencer smiles at her words even though she can't see it.
Spencer: Aw, that's sweet. Ok, I'm on my way.
Olivia: Thanks
Olivia hangs up the phone and waits for Spencer.
— TIME SKIP TO SPENCER ARRIVING AT THE HOUSE —
Spencer knocks on the door. Laura opens the door. She gives him a hug.
"Hey, Spencer, how are you?"
"I'm good, Ms. Baker. Um, Olivia told me what happened so she called me and said that I could come over."
"Of course, she's up in her room."
"Thank you." Spencer walks upstairs to see Olivia crying on the bed. He walks over to give her a tight hug.
"Hey, Liv, it's ok. It's going to be alright. I'm right here. I got you." Olivia still lets out her emotions for a few seconds as she feels safe around Spencer's arms.
"Why does me fighting for a good cause end up being a consequence? Why do people treat us like this?"
Olivia was really thinking about this seeing how the police treats the huge majority of black people as threats.
(Author's Note: I feel her because we have been mistreated for many years and it sucks that we can't really live our lives without other people judging us for being humans. We deserve to achieve success, work hard and live in this world without having to feel like a threat. Sorry, just wanting to put that out there. Back to the story.)
She wishes that the world was different. But in the end, the world is the way it is and no matter how many times we try to change it, it most likely never goes well.
Spencer replies with: "To be honest, I don't know why they treat us this way. I hate having to feel this way. I just want people to treat us right. Give us some respect. Give us some dignity. But, it seems that they can't do that because they hate the way we look or even act. But you know what we do?"
"We keep it pushing and we do what we have to do in order to live our lives. So what if they judge us by our skin color or by our behavior? We know that we are strong, confident and proud. We do what we do in order to survive and that's just the truth. If we have to fight for something that revolves around us, then we fight. We can't let these cops or anyone bring us down from something that we are working hard for."
Olivia smiles as she is inspired by Spencer's truthful words. "You're right. We can't stop fighting for our rights, even if most of the world disagrees and they try everything in their power to stop it from happening. We keep pushing and we keep fighting so that it will all be worth it at the end."
"That's right. See, don't you feel better from saying what you really wanted to say in your head? Your true feelings?"
"Yeah, that felt good. I guess I realized that there is so much bad in the world that you forget to celebrate the good. Remember when you told me that black joy should be a part of my activism?"
Spencer nods.
"Well, after today, I found it. It was during your mom's graduation party and before when we was making the cake. But mostly, it was with you. Me being around you, just makes me more happy, more safe and more comfortable. It is like you were my black joy to my activism."
Spencer smiles and gives her another hug. "Thanks, Liv, I appreciate you saying that. And I'm also glad and proud that you pushed through today."
"Yeah me too."
They let go from the hug and stare into each other's eyes before kissing. After kissing for a few minutes, they stop and decide to hang out for the rest of the day, watching movies and eating some food.
Some time goes by and it was getting late so Spencer had to go home. Both Spencer and Olivia head out to the door where Spencer gives Liv a kiss on the lips and says:
"Goodnight, Liv. I hope I was a great comfort to you."
"You most certainly were. And thanks for the words that you said. It really made me realize some things I need to look over." Liv smiles
"Anytime."
Liv gives Spencer another kiss on the lips before him leaving to get in his car and her closing the door.
Well that is it to my comfort stories. Hopefully you guys enjoyed it! I really felt some things while writing this! Hopefully I didn't make any mistakes in pertaining to the way black people are treated. Considering me being a black girl, I thought it would've been cool to give some points about how black people are being treated in this cruel world.
