Chapter 10. (Final)

Before heading home Eddie wanted to cruise around Seattle in his father's car. The car drove exactly as he remembered. The engine roaring loud, when he turned the corner, up ahead was a car that was stalled, it's engine was dead. Eddie attempted to break, but unfortuanly the car's breaks had suddenly failed.

"Fuck." Eddie said in fear.

 "Babe, what's wrong?" Dannii said looking at Eddie seeing the total shock on his face. "The breaks have failed....I can't stop." Eddie was driving too fast, he couldn't stop in time. "HOLD ON!" In order to avoid hitting the car he tried to turn the car around, but it ended up flipping over. The quiet road was now interrupted by a loud crash between the two vehicles. Metal and busted glass shattered all over the road.

Eddie was unconscious for a few minutes, but he ended up waking up in the aftermath of the horrible accident, the rain was pouring down on him and he was surrounded by people. Everything was a blur and a ringing sensation echoed through his ears. Paramedics standing all around him, helping him. Across from Eddie, he could see other paramedic's attending to a body on the floor. It took time for Eddie's vision to adjust, when it did he released it was Dannii. He instantly dismissed the paramedics and with a limp came to her attention. Dizziness and nausea came over him. When Eddie came closer he shoved the paramedics out of the way. "No! god please no!" Eddie exclaimed, with total fear in his eyes and a breaking voice. The paramedics tried to maintain Eddie but that didn't stop him. He knelt down and held her in his arms. "Baby, everything's going to be okay. We're going to be okay." He said sobbing as he lifted her head. Dannii looked into his eyes. Quietly she whispered "hold me darling, just a little while."

Dannii was cold, "Don't try and speak baby, these guys are going to fix you up. We're going to be okay." Eddie was ever so desperately trying to convince himself that she was going to pull through this. He grabbed his fiancé to make sure she was alright. Eddie's eyes never left hers. Suddenly Dannii's breathing shallowed. "Stay with me Dannii, stay with me baby" he said, his eyes flowing with tears. Dannii took one final look into his eyes and grazed his face. He made sure he kissed her one last time. Slowly her eyes began to close. "Please baby, don't leave me. I love you, please don't leave me." In the distance, faint sounds of sirens began to approach. Eddie held her close in his arms, rocking slowly back and forth. Rain falling down on them both.

TWO WEEKS LATER:

Dannii's funeral took place, Eddie flew over to the UK with the rest of Pearl Jam and the rest of the girls were there including Jim, Phoenix and Dannii's family and friends. Eddie never forgot the sound of that dreadful night, it began to haunt him. After the funeral Eddie wanted to give Dannii a final send off. He gave a speech and played the song he was working on the last time Dannii heard him play. It was her song.
