She sits in a chair, her black dress barely hovering above the floor. Her blonde hair falls down her back, past her shoulders. Her green eyes watch as the director lifts his baton. She carefully brings the violin up to her chin and positions the bow in her right hand over the strings. When the baton comes down, as the signal to start, she swiftly swipes the bow against the strings. Her left fingers gently push down the strings and move up and down on the neck of the instrument. Her eyes flicker between the director and the sheets of music in front of her. The sound of her own violin merges in with the other thirty or so. Her part dances carefully with the sound of the basses, while the cellos and violas play together. Suddenly a squeak came from her own instrument, causing her to cringe. Her eyes widened and she quickly glanced at the director, who thankfully hadn't noticed. She carefully examined the violin as she kept playing and noticed that one of the strings was wearing thin. She bit her lip as she continued letting the bow glide across the strings. The end was coming and she prayed that it would last. Luckily for her, it did. But as the last note came, the string broke and with that came an accidental squeal from her mouth.
