The sky was in his eyes: clear blue and bright. The corners of his perfect pink lips were turned into a smile; he was happy. Of course he was happy. He had a beautiful redhead hanging on his arm. Her fiery red hair was a mess of curls. She was curvy, not quite plump like her lips, yet petite in height. And her eyes were just as clear and blue as his.
You could hear the swishing of his baggy pants as he walked down the street. A key ring dangled from his belt loop, making a small jingling noise. On it was a small, clear diamond heart; and it was mine.
I ran to catch up, ignoring the damsel at his side, and reached for the seemingly small trinket. But when I touched it I felt pain. An ache ran throughout my body. I ignored it and wrapped my hand around the heart. This time I flinched and snapped my hand back, finding blood running down my ivory skin. I looked up to those familiar blue eyes staring at me. I averted my eyes and tried again to clutch the trinket in my hand with the same result: more blood. I looked at him again and he still stared. No help was offered, just a smile. I tried again and again, watching the edges of the heart become more jagged each time I tried.
By the time I stopped I was collapsed on the sidewalk, tears streaming down my face as I laid in a pool of my own blood. Somewhere between fighting for breath through my sobs and tears blurring my vision I felt you leave a strong, passionate kiss against my lips. As I felt myself regaining strength, you pulled away and whispered, "I miss you." And just like that you walked away.
