Isla was seated next to Mila and Leo in the dining hall, eating lunch as they talked about the upcoming ball. Mila accepted the very thoughtful invitation Leo had surprised her with. He usually didn't bother making it special, but he did now — for her.
Isla smiled shyly at the look of them as they were sitting close to each other, their hands touching and dragging away every time they noticed it. It was adorable to her, watching them be that type of awkward together.
If only the marriage law had allowed it to go further than this.
''So, who are you going with?'' Mila snickered, playfully at Isla's staring, making her coil out of her thoughts, ''Did you take Malfoy up on that offer?''
Isla's eyes grew wide, startled almost as she shot Leo a glare, ''I didn't tell her about that, Leo.'' Her tone accusing as she rose a brow, making the boy stretch his arms up in surrender.
''I didn't—'' He quieted, biting his lower lip, huffing lowly, ''I'm sorry. I didn't mean to spill it. I just—''
''It's alright, and no—'' Isla lied, causing an uncomfortable grimace to climb her temples, ''I'm not going with Draco—''
''Yeah?'' He was standing behind her again, and she flinched at the unexpected voice, ''You're not going with him?''
Isla swallowed thickly at the curiosity he brought as she spun around on her chair, looking up at him through her lashes, ''Theodore,'' She greeted him coldly as he noticed.
''Clarke.''
It trickled in silence, with Theodore standing in front of her, towering as she still remained in her seat. Mila and Leo blinked quickly, watching their tension rigorously.
''Well...'' Mila beamed, attempting to suppress that growing smirk she felt coming as she forced her bench back, grabbing Leo's hand as she stood up, ''We'll leave you to it then.''
''But I—'' The glance Mila sent him, shot daggers as he hushed, and he acceptingly nodded, standing tall on his feet as well next to the girl, ''I'll find you later.'' He rolled his eyes, letting Mila drag him away in the Great Hall, devising Isla behind.
''Well?'' Theo snapped, frustrated with her lack of answering, ''Are you going with Malfoy or not?''
Isla scowled. Her lips parted to speak against him — to make a whole speech about her having dignity enough not to let her be pulled down by the two boys, but the second she sought to do so, her eyes flickered to above his shoulder, and she found herself staring straight at the blond.
His shoulder against the doorway as he smirked evilly, slightly tipping his head to the side. He gestured for her to meet him outside the massive doors before he disappeared into the hallway behind him.
Her cheeks burnt, feverishly as her head shook at the embarrassment she felt lingering, ''I just have to—'' She hewed herself off, taking a step past the brunet, ''I'll—''
''No,'' Theodore grunted, his hand wrapping around her arm and he stopped her from leaving, ''You're not going anywhere until you tell me if you're going with Malfoy or not—''
Isla's eyes flickered back, matching his as her lips pressed together, thinly, ''Who are you going with? Let me guess, that girl of yours.'' She shot back, less of a question as it was a statement, ''You have no right knowing whom I'm going with or not, so don't do that.''
A shaking breath fled her lips as she yanked her arm away from him, stepping back, ''I don't own you, and you don't own me, Theodore.'' Her sight narrowed, and she put on a brave smile, even if it bothered her, ''Do whatever you want, and I'll do what I want.''
