"If I wasn't clear enough, I'm in love with you too."
It had been crystal clear but hearing him saying those words made the boy felt the happiest person in the world.
Osvaldo threw onto him and hugged him, resting his cheek on the black-haired boy's left shoulder, who reciprocated the gesture.
"You're trembling" Isaac commented. The selkie let out a nervous laugh.
"I was scared" he confessed, taking advantage of the lack of visual contact to say everything he thought. "I didn't know if you felt the same as me... I didn't even know if you liked boys..."
"Being honest, I wasn't sure of it until sometime ago, and I was scared too" the shorter one admitted, "but I wasn't going to keep quiet after you had the courage to tell me. What I am sure is I should've done that a long time ago."
"Do what?"
"Kissing you" Isaac covered his face with the other's shoulder.
"Definitely" the brown-haired boy responded. Slowly, they separated. Their eyes found each other. "What's gonna happen now?"
"Well," the brunette began, "you already took the first step. So let me do the next one." He retired the selkie's hands from his shoulders and put them between their bodies. "Would you let me be your boyfriend?"
A big smile took shape on Osvaldo's face. The teenager nodded several times.
"Yes" he answered, and as if Isaac hadn't heard him, he repeated it. "Yes." The brunette was happy to hear the response, and he dared to give another kiss to the selkie, who was not going to complain about it. It was sloppy, Osvaldo had no experience, and he was sure neither the other one. When it tended, the taller one kept his hands holding the others. "Can I ask you something'"
"Yes" he replied. The selkie opened his mouth once, closed it and he opened it again.
"When did you realize you liked me?" he questioned in the end. The interrogative took the other by surprise, who doubted for a few seconds before answering.
"When did I realize?" the black-haired boy repeated. Osvaldo nodded. The teenager remained on his thoughts and he finally replied. "Do you remember the game from last semester in which we won to the obnoxious guys?"
"How could I forget" the taller one exclaimed in joy. "It was the first time I made three consecutive serves" he continued, still with a victorious tone. Then, he lowered it. "Was it that day?"
"Aha" Isaac said with confidence. "We were so happy. The rest of the team got close to you and you started to high five them. Then you went to me and did the same. But then..."
"I hugged you" Osvaldo whispered. "I was so excited, and I thought just a high five wasn't enough" he remembered. "It was because of that?"
Isaac shrugged.
"It's the first thing that comes to mind. I've always felt comfortable being around you" he admitted. Seeing the selkie's face, Isaac wished he could take out his phone to snap a picture, because a grin from ear to ear had spread across his boyfriend's face. "And you when?"
The brunette looked down and struggled to remember. The previous days, the whole being-a-selkie-out-of-control thing had contributed a lot to make him come to terms with it and make up his mind to make a move. However, if he thought about it, his feelings were already something that existed before.
"I think when we went to see Jaz —one of his friends from his swimming lessons— compete." The two of them had gone, accompanied by Fabián and the girls. Only Osvaldo and Isaac knew Jasmine, but the others had wanted to join them to hear their former companions talk about their days as swimmers. "You and Fabián were watching one of the girls who competed."
"I wasn't seeing them!" Isaac said, offended. "Fabián pointed to one of them and I told her that she was very pretty."
"And that you liked her swimsuit" the brunette reminded him in a sarcastic tone.
"I said it to pretend! I mean, she was pretty, I'm not blind. But I've never liked girls that way... you know..."
Osvaldo laughed.
"Okay, okay, I believe you." But since I couldn't have known that I got upset. Then I realized that, you don't get bothered by that kind of thing."
"It. Can't. Be" the boy said, spacing his words. "Osvaldo Rónan" he said, calling him by his second surname, "were you jealous?"
The boy muttered something, but at such a low volume that he couldn't hear it.
"What did you say?"
"I said yes. I was jealous."
"You are so cute" Isaac put a hand on the other one's cheek. "And you have nothing to worry, I'm all yours."
"Luckily. Because I don't know if I can shout victory with the ocean thing, eh?" he yelled. "And you promised to never let me go."
"Never, little selkie" the brunette whispered. "You'll always have me."
