Sokka was curled up in his sleeping bag resting on Appa. We were waiting for Aang to come back. After being out in that storm, it really did a number on him. "How's Sokka doing?" Aang flew in on his glider and as I turned to look at him, he was flicking it away. I shook my head slightly. "I couldn't find any ginger root for the tea. But I found a map. There's an herbalist institute on top of that mountain. We could probably find a cure for Sokka there."
"Aang, Sokka is in no condition to travel. He just needs more rest. I'm sure he'll be better by tomorrow." Aang sighed as a cough sounded from Katara.
"That's how Sokka started yesterday!" I stood up and walked over to Aang to look at the map. Katara shrugged us off and insisted we had nothing to worry about. "Look at him, he thinks he's an earthbender!" I gestured towards him as he swung his fists.
"Take that, you rock!"
"A few more hours and you'll be talking nonsense, too. I'm going to go find some medicine!" Aang stood up and grabbed his glider to head out just as a flash of lightning struck. "Uh, maybe it's safer if I go on foot. Keep an eye on them guys." He was looking at Appa, Momo and I.
"I can come with you." Aang nodded and we ran off. He used his airbending to propel himself to run faster. I tried to do the same, but I was still much slower than him. I finally caught up to him at the herbalist where he was already speaking with an older woman. He followed her around all jittery while I hung back and pet her cat, who I found out was named Miyuki. I sat on my knees petting Miyuki as a sudden burst of pictures clouded my vision.
"Is everything okay? It's been almost an hour and you haven't given the men an order."
"I don't care what they do." Zuko turned and looked over the edge of the boat.
"Don't give up." Iroh hovered behind Zuko, but kept his distance to give him space. "You can still find the Avatar before Zhao."
"How, Uncle? With Zhao's resources, it's just a matter of time before he captures the Avatar. My honor, my throne, my country, I'm about to lose them all."
"Kyia? Are you okay?" I nod slowly. "Come on. Frozen frogs are what they need." I look at him questioningly, but I don't hesitate to follow him down to the valley swamp where the frozen frogs were located. But on the way, there were some unexpected obstacles. Two arrows come out of the sky and pin Aang's pant legs to the ground. I looked up at another one that was coming straight for my face. I punch the air with my fist and burn the arrow with firebending before it gets too close to me. There were a few more arrows on the way, but Aang blew them away. He pulled the arrows pinning him to the ground out and held them up to what looked to be fire nation archers that were hiding in the trees. "Uh, I think you dropped this!"
I grabbed his arm and pulled him away. "Come on!" We ran to the edge of a cliff and before I can stop myself, I am falling off the edge with Aang in tow. I heard my scream as if from a distance as it echoed in the swamp below. Aang used his airbending to slow our fall as we landed as softly as possible in the water. Aang hastily picked frogs up and tucked them into his shirt as we waded through the water. Arrows kept flying in our direction when Aang's sleeve was pinned to a log. He threw up a shield of ice in front of him, but the arrows soon smashed it. I went to his aid, but I didn't make it very far. An arrow sank itself in my back and I fell face first into the cold water. I tried to get up, to get air, but I felt someone's hand on the back of my neck holding me down. I thrashed against the grip, but I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. Spots dotted my vision before the whole world turned black.
"Why is it that you wear Water Tribe clothes, but my sources tell me, you're a firebender?" I sat up in a small cot that was in a tiny cell. I had a bandage wrapped around my chest, but my entire body ached. "Answer me." Zhao was standing at the door, and he slammed his fist against the bars.
